sinkhole (117), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Jul 1, 2007 as XXXX Export Gold in Ontario. Weak grain aroma, poured a pale gold yellow. Minimal carbonation, with slight hop flavours that leave no aftertaste. Overall it’s okay but I probably won’t be trying this again.
Dedollewaitor (1742), Odense, Denmark Apr 14, 2008 33cl bottle bought in Italy. Pours clear see through yellow with a white head. Sweet malty/grassy taste with some decent bitter hops. Fresh & crisp. Bought a six pack and brought it back home to Denmark with me. Decent pale lager! yespr (5258), Copenhagen O, Denmark Apr 13, 2008 33 cL bottle at Fiumicino airport, Rome, licensed brew by Carlsberg in Italy, comes as Export Lager. Pours clear and golden yellow with a diminished white head. Light aroma of brewing cereal. Light bitter flavour with a mild sweetness from the malt. Medium dry finish again with a light bitterness. Decent light brew. timoti (2), Australia does not count Apr 13, 2008 Having lived in Queensland this is the kind of beer you drink as a teenager when you don’t know any better and can’t afford anything else. That or Carlton Cold anyway. There’s isn’t much of anything too it, there’s a reasonable bitterness to it but it lacks even a hint of body, colour, aroma and pours a nothing head. Bribieboy (11), Bribie Island Queensland, Australia Mar 29, 2008 Once undisputed king of beers here in Queensland it is rarely promoted nowadays, Lion Nathan seem to be intent on replacing it with Toohey’s New. Over the last 5 years the flood of imported and ’licenced’ brands such as Stella Artois, Heineken, Becks and Bavaria has eaten into the XXXX market. It is no longer available on tap in North Queensland although the XXXX Gold mid strength brand is still being promoted heavily. Papsoe (9656), Frederiksberg, Denmark Mar 12, 2008 (Can 37,5 cl) Clear golden with a dense, off-white head leaving some laces. Aroma is primarily brewing cereal. Medium body with sweetish caramel and brewing cereal. A very light bitterness in the end. 100208
