1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 madquacker (956) - Canberra ACT, AUSTRALIA - MAR 26, 2006
Bloody terrible. Doesn’t even have enough ticker to bring up those usual aussie macro chemical tastes. Cardboard with a bit of benign salt upfront and alot of oiliness. Palate fades to nothing very quickly. No discernable head.

Tastes ok when it is ice-cold but after warming a bit the chemicals and
dodgy hops come to the fore. And it is extremely watery and highly carbonated. The finish is non-existant and the aftertaste is a shocker,
kind of like cardboard or corn or something. In this case I think no taste would be better than bad taste.
I wish this wasn’t such a popular beer, being from Brisbane it’s everywhere.

38 cl bottle. This beer is primarily a thirst quencher, and if you are really thirsty it might do as an average lager. But it isnt..

clear light yellow beer, not too strong or weak, perfect for a hot day (do you get them in Sydney? - hot days) not my first choice, but great if its hot and money is tight, drank straight from the bottle with a stubby.

I was formally from NSW and thought if it aint Tooheys i dont want it. But now i live in HOT Nth Qld i understand why this beer is so loved in QLD. its a good beer to drink in the tropics. So if your from a colder climate (yes that includes Sydney) then its pretty pointless of you rating it. Good beer for the region where it comes from.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JFURYCAT (1079) - East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 6, 2005
This is pretty much a watered down lager but there is some sweetness here which makes this cheap pint a hell of a lot more tolerable than the cheap beers I’ve drank in the US (Milwaukee’s best, etc.).
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 fluids (364) - USA - OCT 2, 2005
I had this in Cairns, Australia. I walked around Cairns thinking they were way into porno before someone told me that was the beer and it was called four X. There is a very mild bitter touch to the taste which gives it a couple of notches over Bud and Miller.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Roddy (14) - AUSTRALIA - SEP 12, 2005
Remarkably complex, sweet and perfumed floral, anise, and pastry dough aromas have a slightly herbal, citrus-like edge and are very forward and attractive. A rich, smooth entry leads to an oily, unctuous medium-full-bodied palate with vanilla frosting, wheat dough, and subtle nutmeg, almond, and anise flavors. Finishes effortlessly with a long, sweet powdered sugar and marzipan fade. A very interesting and intense product that pushes the envelope of beer.
Oh, and it’s horrible, and the above is a blatant lie.
0.5 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 ALLOVATE (2142) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - SEP 8, 2005
It has taken me years to finally taste this one and I’m now struggling to erase the nightmare. Is this Australia’s worst beer or did I just land a dud. Label read brewed with XXXX Golden hops, what the hell are they? Poured into a stein glass it looked like the urine of a dehydrated man, clear yellow-gold, with large irregular bubbles raising only the thinnest foam lather. Dank liquor, skunky egg and shrimp broth nose with soggy cardboard and a metallic zing that added to the chaos. The aroma followed straight through into the mouth with each sip making it really hard to palate. Metal shards, dish-washing liquid, artificial sweetener and cardboard made up this stomach churner, harsh biting carbonation upfront that became flat and lifeless in the back before a chemical ’pool-cleaner’ swallow that truly ended it on a good note. I thought Boag’s St. George was bad but this took Aussie macro-swill to a whole new level. Woeful. (375ml bottle, BBE 03/06)

There is a reason why you don’t see this outside of Queensland much. Light yellow, small head. Flavor is non-exsistant going down and then some bad aftertaste kicks in. Like Vegemite, the only reason people drink this is because they were raised on it. Althouhg I drink the PBR of my ancestors, At least I haven’t been dupped into thinking its good.
