A little more bitterness on the finish than your average pale lager. Fizzy. Pretty neutral, nothing to write home about.

I really dislike most XXX products, and apart from the "off the wood" and the stout I will actually say "no" when offered one. Gold is the other exception. MUST be ice cold and still not a good beer, but if a mate offers me one at their BBQ I can say yes and know that it is passable. And that is the rating - a passable mid strength larger when served ice cold, and you can still legally drive home after having it.

Tastes and smells like wallpaper paste. Clear hold n body with weak head. Bland and not very tasty

375ml screw-top bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours clear amber, no real head. Light grain aromas. Watery taste, slight astringency on the finish. Pretty much as expected.

Pours a clear golden color. Aroma and taste are watery grains and light malts.

375ml can on a flight. Pours golden yellow with a medium head. No nose that I would smell. Watered down hints of hops and malt, but they do work together.

Pot at Breakfast Creek. No nose at all. Thin head highly carbonated. Tastes like cold water, but the aftertaste! Stale cardboard sprouts or something equally horrible. No redeeming features.

Oh boy where does one start? It’s like this, take a crappy pale lager, halve the strength, halve the flavour and you’ll find you’re making love in a canoe.

Rated from memory, drank in the Summer of 2003 in Sydney -- Poured from a pitcher into a pint glass. Very pretty golden beer, foamy white head. Really reminded me of a sweeter version of Coors Light.

Keg - Poured a clear, effervescent golden colour with a fluffy lasting, lacing one-finger white head. Pretty non-descript across the board with very subtle, inoffensive grain, light malts and metallic characters. Light in body, medium carbonation and a soft, short-length bitterness in the finish that’s barely there.

Can on the flight to Wellington. Golden with a white head. Grainy aroma with light hops. Similar flavor, though it is quite muted. No finish to speak of.
