I think this beer is cleverly placed in the market. Lighter in alcohol then most beers but not so light people don’t want to drink it. In fact it was well recieved. For the professional drunks of mother England however this is not something new or different but something dear to their hearts....a ’session bitter’, albeit with added fizz. Decent enough to drink.

Small white head quickly shrinks. Paleish amber body. Faint grainy perfumy aroma with caramelly notes. Dry grainy perfumy taste with papery vegetal notes. Light body. Soft, mild mouthfeel. Dry mealy papery vegetal aftertaste with metallic notes. (0.375l bottle, Taste, Hang Hao, Hong Kong.)

Watery metallic aroma, with weak frothy head and despite the name suggests, not so golden colour, more yellowy pale. (like piss?) Not at all Bitter, also kinda watery taste, very light, poor carbonation, slightly more bitter at the end. Only enjoyable to drink during a hot day, goes down nicely when cold, so can be refreshing. My Mother in Law drinks it, god knows why.

375ml bottle. I can’t comment on its appearance - I consumed it straight from the bottle, but I’m guessing not good, especially considering its other attributes. The aroma is virtually non-existent: maybe some stale bread and cardboard, but that’s about it. There are some dull, stale hops up front, leading into a watery, slightly metallic body, with some wet cardboard. Additionally, it is far too carbonated. All in all, then, it is one to avoid. Just another character-free macro lager.

Metalchopz (1427) - Quebec, CANADA - JUN 27, 2011
Originally rated September 2007. Comes in 6-pack at the LCBO, under the name "Export Gold", and with 4.5% ABV. Pours a golden colour with an off-white creamy-fizz head that sticks around long enough, and leaves good lacing. The carbonation though is pretty low. Smells malty at first, but then turns onto an adjunct smell. Pretty light and watery mouthfeel. The taste is a mix of malt and other macrobrews chemical flavours. Was a good swill dranked from the can, but in a glass... really nothing special.

Very bland and non descript . It’s also very weak. When I lived in Queensland everyone drank it.....god knows why. If your ever in Queensland go for the bitter it’s stronger and has ( marginally ) more taste. AND importantly it’s not bitter at all ( took me weeks to realise ozzy bitter isnt real bitter) .

pretty not devoid of flavour all together. The appearance is pretty good but the aroma is pretty much stale bread the taste is bread in water with bubbles and there is zero finish just bubbles and stale. very disappointing beer which is strangely very popular.

Bottle. Pours golden with a short-lived white head. Nose is light grains and a bit musty. Starts sweet, a bit of grass, dry and slightly bitter finish.

Actual filth. Piss in a bottle. This was the first beer everyone made me try when I first moved out here. ’You poms only drink warm beer! This will be a taste sensation’ Our beer is cold, and better than this watered down canned piss.

You people really don’t appreciate great QLD beer. This is one of the world’s great thrills. Drink real, not effete beer and enjoy.
