COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This award-winning beer has long been a Catamount favorite. The dark roasted malts are the signature of the Porter style, yet a hoppy character and fruitiness balance this beer. Whether you're in a warm pub during a Vermont winter evening, or enjoying a sunny summer day, Catamount Porter will satisfy your thirst for a rich, tasty beer

Dark brown body, great lacing. Smooth up front, but grainy at the back. Lots of roast and nice lingering hops. Finish was sweet with only a hint of sourness.

(Bottle) Pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Had a good flavor with hints of chocolate and roasted nuts. Descent brew.

This brew is deep and dark, but not opaque. Has a reddish tint and a lovely tan head that leaves behind a nice lacing. Smoky, roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Big hops (hint of florals) and chocolate taste. A little sour. Very dry and a bit bitter on the finish. Now that's a porter IMO!

Very good. Rich and well balanced. Strong roasted malt flavor with some citrus notes, a nice thick head and clean finish. All at only $5 a six pack.

Dark brown in colour, about 80% opaque with a nice thick (2 centimetre) dense tan head. My bottle had a VERY different label than what is posted to the left here, but my bottle was from the same batch as JonR888710's (see below). Roasted malt is very prominent in the aroma as is the coffee and a bit of chocolate. Strong roasty malt and bitter chocolate flavours in the taste with a tiny bit of hops and the subtlety of alcohol. A very nice porter, definately above average and especially good figuring in the low price paid...under $1! After drinking it a bit more, having the beer warm up a bit, I figured I should mention that almost nothing is wrong with this beer. It is one of the best porters I've had, and should be sampled by more people. Check your local Trader Joe's and see if they have any in...and remember you only need to buy 1 if you want, you don't need to buy all 6! I definately reccomend this one WAY more than the Catamount Pale Ale! I bought my twelve ounce bottle at Trader Joe's in Tyson's Corner, Virginia.

Ruby-black body. Very dark for a porter. Lasting, beige, thin head that leaves some lacing. Nose is defined barley, malt chocolate and an earthy fragrance (think: wet grass & earth). Taste is soft on the tongue with more chocolate malts and grape & lemony hops. Aftertaste is coffee, more hops and a tad of alcohol. The only problem with this beer is the hop aftertaste which turns metallic at the very end. This was an amazing value at $.99, nearly on par with the Smuttynose porter.

Bottled. Nothing special or wrong with it. Didn't wow me. Nice and drinkable. Tasted just what a porter should taste like.

Yummy! It is very similar to Gentle Bens Nolan Porter and has a definite coffee palate yet incorprates it into a wide array of other tastes.

Spectacularly unspectacular in most respects, but a tiny bit interesting in others. This one poured a general brownish black color with hints of ruby and a slight tan head which fades quickly. I didnt dig the aroma quite as much as everyone else. It has sweet coffee and chocolate mixed in with sour grapefruit smells..a little weird if you ask me. The flavor is very bland for a porter...a mild dose of chocolate upfront, followed by a melange souring grapefruitiness, then a sweetening chocolateyness in the finish yet again. No smokey or coffee factors really to be found...im kinda lost here. I do like the mouthfeel..good carbonation...somewhat full bodied...a better balance of sweet and sour than the initial aroma. A good product from Vermont, i look forward to trying more. Thanks beerguy101 for the beer.

Aroma of roasted malts is very prevalent. Pours a nice dark brown with amber hues. Flavor was very dry and roasty. Finished dry with a chalky palate. A decent porter.
