COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Named after the beloved Catawba Brewing van whose life has reached the impressive 300,000 mile mark, this unique beer was brewed with five different malts and a special strain of Belgian yeast. Orange blossoms, chocolate spice and light alcohol combine to provide olfactory bliss. As it slides down the throat, roasted barley, cacao, orange peel, black peppercorn and Jaffas (the famous Australian candy) waltz with the taste buds.

Pint glass, served upstairs at the Thirsty Monk. This is a super black pour with heavy lacing and a dark head. Belgian yeast is immediately noticed in the aroma. I get scents of Grand Marnier, chocolate and light coffee. The palate is pretty heavy and makes for a savory aperitif of a beer. Flavors of chocolate covered orange-booze candies, fruit cereal and dark chocolate make for an interesting beer. I can’t say I’ve had anything like it. Seems like a really fruity ale with the roastiness and richness of an imperial stout. It took me a while to decide if I like it and I came to the conclusion halfway through my glass that I did indeed approve.

The orange and chocolate was enough for me to thoroughly enjoy this brown ale. Very unique and complex.
