Firewater is a very balanced and drinkable East Coast IPA. Six separate British hop varieties make your taste buds jump up and say “Wow!”, while wheat and five different barleys provide a malty balance. An American version of the historic English style, this beer can stand up to a journey – either halfway around the world or just from can to mouth!

Draft. Pours a clear golden orange with icing-like lacing. smell is sweet toffee and earthy, grassy hops. Taste is muddled citrus and earthy hops. I did not enjoy this one at all.

Draft at Charlotte airport terminal while waiting for Moreau. Pours a bright golden body with white lacing. Mouthfeel is medium to light bodied with notes of bitter pine, grapefruit and light caramel malt. Not bad.

An English-styled IPA that puts its hop ego aside for a more quaffable profile. Medium bodied, this light brown beer holds a rocky white head and leaves a nice spattering of lacing. Softly carbonated, it also delivers a fine hop aroma that is a blend of citrus and spiciness. The finish here really stands out though, starting with a wave of light malt sweetness, which is quickly overtaken by a piney spicy wash of hop bitterness, finally settling into a lightly bitter graininess that leaves equal memories of all the best components of the beer.

355 ml can @ Timo A. Thanks rosenbergh! Canned 24.05.2015.
Pours clear golden color with a small head. Resinous hops and some caramel malt notes on the nose, mild pine and some bread. Some cardboard notes too, a bit old sadly.

Pale amber pour. The nose is lightly hoppy. A little bit spicy with a touch of minerally yeast character. Clean/crackery malts. There’s a fairly light hop aroma. Just a touch of spice. It’s pretty bland really. Plenty bitter but light on flavour.

Sample at Mondial de la Biere in Montreal. Cloudy golden body, small white head. Aroma of peaches, pineapple and orange flowers. Taste of grapefruit zest, orange candies, herbs, a touch of pine needles. Pretty aromatic and flowery.

sample at mondial de la bière 2015 - mtl. unclear mediumd ark golden orange with a small creamy white cap, some retention and lacing. spicy citrus, belgian angles - low phenols perhaps, toasted maltiness - touch of caramel, thyme and other fragrant herbs, hint of sweetness - candy barley sugars, touch of carbonic acid. average carbonation - slightly foamy, light body - oily; balanced citrusy-spicy finish. plain and rather dull but decently crafted anyhow.
