Firewater is a very balanced and drinkable East Coast IPA. Six separate British hop varieties make your taste buds jump up and say “Wow!”, while wheat and five different barleys provide a malty balance. An American version of the historic English style, this beer can stand up to a journey – either halfway around the world or just from can to mouth!

On tap at urban bar in Knoxville tn. Firewater pours a hazy apple juice rich amber. Nose is crisp combo of floral hop scents. Taste is a fair amount of good bitters on the front that mellow through the mid taste. Finishes nicely. A good medium strength IPA.

Meh. This one is pretty basic. Almost has some Belgium flavors to it. It is fairly easy drinking but not something I would seek out.

Backlog, now into our brief Carolina vacation. On tap at the Holiday Inn in Asheville. Poured a medium orange gold, slight head. Aroma was crackery malts and some floral, slightly green and earthy hop notes. Comes across English in nature. Flavor matches. Weird sense of American big bittering levels combined with English hop flavors. Honestly, couldn’t get into it.

Pours up a Yellow orange color with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is tangerine, sea grass, and damp pale malt. Good citrus and floral hop bitterness with a strong malt backbone for a great balanced. Very Good beer overall.

Can. Golden body with a frothy, white head. Light aroma of pine, grapefruit, pineapple, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Taste of pineapple, citrus, light raw grain, lingering bitterness. Both taste and aroma not as bold as an IPA should be.

Draft at the brewery during RBWG 2014 - Asheville. Pours hazy gold with a creamy, white head. A nicely balanced IPA, with pleasant citrusy hops, pale bread sweetness, light piney bitterness. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. Pretty clean on the finish, with moderate pithy citrus character. Good beer.

Draft at Charlotte airport terminal while waiting for Moreau. Pours a bright golden body with white lacing. Mouthfeel is medium to light bodied with notes of bitter pine, grapefruit and light caramel malt. Not bad.

An English-styled IPA that puts its hop ego aside for a more quaffable profile. Medium bodied, this light brown beer holds a rocky white head and leaves a nice spattering of lacing. Softly carbonated, it also delivers a fine hop aroma that is a blend of citrus and spiciness. The finish here really stands out though, starting with a wave of light malt sweetness, which is quickly overtaken by a piney spicy wash of hop bitterness, finally settling into a lightly bitter graininess that leaves equal memories of all the best components of the beer.
