King Donís Pumpkin Ale is named for one of the original North Carolina brewers who lent his pumpkin prowess to this collaboration beer in 2001. This complex beer uses five separate barley styles, an artistic touch of hops, spices normally used in baking, and fresh pumpkin! The caramel, spice, and pumpkin flavors meld into a wonderfully smooth, orange-hued beer that sports a luscious, creamy foam head. Long live King Don!

This was a subtle but tasty rendition of the seasonal pumpkin ale. I prefer a heavy pumpkin ale, but I will admit this beer did a good job of tasting good, yet carrying that fine pumpkin undertone. Very well done. Clap Clap Clap.

Draft at FS Columbia. Clear bronze-chestnut color with a thin tan head. Fair aroma of perfume, all spice and a hint of pumpkin. Flavor is a little thin with a big spice and ginger profile. A slight miss for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A good pumpkin, lots of cinnamon. Pour a nice bright orange with a white head. Smells of cinnamon and pumpkin. Cinnamon all over the taste, quite spicy too. Had on tap at the brewery.

Draft at Catawba - South Slope. Poured a clear orange color with a small white head. Aroma was light vanilla, nutmeg, other pumpkin spices. Flavor was mostly vanilla, light nutmeg, spicy is not too over the top. Nice change from the norm.

It is a darker orange-brown in color. I thought this was a solid, on-style Pumpkin beer. It wasnít a favorite for me in the style, something fell a little short of that, but itís decent enough.

Received from a NC friend by surprise -- Can pours a beautiful orange with a fizzy, quickly dissipating head. Aroma is pronounced nutmeg and cinnamon with a hint of malt. Flavor is similar, cinnamon is a tad bit too strong, the malt profile compliments everything nicely. Overall a pretty good beer.

Can. Pours an orange color with white head. Pumpkin, cinnamon, spices, nutmeg aromas. Flavor is a little over spiced with a little too much nutmeg (and ginger maybe?). Below average pumpkin beer.

12 oz can poured slightly hazy; deep red-amber body; good size bubbly head quickly dissolves. Aroma: nice malty and spicy mix with a hint of pumpkin. Flavor: Over-spiced with little sign of the pumpkin, although the malt base is still evident. Medium-full body with moderate carbonation and a slight astringency.

12oz can into a pint glass. Pours a clear deep copper with a tiny fizzy head that quickly disappears. No lacing at all. Appearance is less than stellar. Aroma is really really good. Loaded with nutmeg and cinnamon with some nice light caramel undertones. Almost a little creaminess in there. The flavor also hits the spices really hard and closely matches the aroma with cinnamon and nutmeg. A little caramel and toast along with whipped cream. Very light hoppiness in the background and a slightly chalky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very nice pumpkin beer that hits the spices really hard. While not the best out there it is certainly enjoyable
