4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Riccardi50 (17) - Montreat, USA - MAY 4, 2008
Tap @ Barley’s Taproom - The past 2 year this hasn’t been that great of a batch from Catawba, but whenever they decide to get their act together and stop messing around with the ingredients, this is the best pumpkin ale I’ve ever had.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 DiarmaidBHK (1527) - Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 20, 2011
Draft at westville pub. Pours dark autumn brownish orange. A hint of pumpkin on the nose. Mouthfeel is thin. You get a hint of pumpkin on the tongue but then it disappears very quickly. Not my fave by any stretch.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Travlr (5383) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 9, 2011
Draft served in a glass rimmed with sugar and cinnamon, holy cow, nice gimmick! Hazy amber color. Aroma of sugar and spice. Taste has nice squash and spice Combo, the best of the pumpkin ales of this weekend in Charlotte.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Jow (903) - New York, USA - SEP 24, 2011
Had for desert after lunch at Brewgrass 2011. Pours orange with nose full of pumpkin spices. Tastes of nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, pumpkin pie filling, it’s medium bodied and pretty sweet, enjoyable
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 bubbleflubber (1228) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - NOV 9, 2010
On draught from the brewer, it pours orange-amber into the glass with a fully diminished head that leaves trace to no lace. Lots of pie spices and clove to the nose. Flavors of pumpkin, clove, licorice, nutmeg, walnut skins, dry pale malts on the tongue, finishing with a clove/licorice essence. A tad numbing to the palate, this has nice medium-soft carbonation levels, a dry spicy mouthfeel and a lightly-silked body. Good pumpkin ale, not cloying and an enjoyable session brew.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 biznizness (1047) - Mooresville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 16, 2009
Draft at Barley’s in Asheville. Really clovey, giving it a pretty rich flavor and making for a slow drinker. But otherwise, a really nice pumpkin loaded with flavor that I really enjoyed. Strong recommendation to try, although you may be satisfied with just one.
3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 StinkBall (124) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - DEC 3, 2009
This beer is really great for the first couple of sips. Taste like a liquified pumpkin pie with a nice spicy kick. Very flavorful and the pumpkin smell is great. But the beer gets old fast and is too sweet to enjoy more than one and getting thru the first one was a challenge for me because it was just too damn sweet.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 unclemattie (3350) - Georgia, USA - NOV 12, 2009
On tap @ Asheville Pizza.
Deep copper color. Flavor is a very perfumy, Yankee Candle Co. of cinnamon, Big Red aroma taste. A hint of squash. Lots of cinnamon. Finishes with an ’Already Been Chewed’ Big Red sweetness. Aroma of loads of nutmeg and loads of cinnamon.
