On tap at Barley’s, Asheville. Black, brown head. Milky, raspberyy and coffee in the aroma. Actually smells a bit artificial, but the flavor seem authentic. Odd, it usually the other way around. Nice mix of chocolate and nicely tart fruit flavors.

Draught at Barley’s in Asheville. Pours quite black with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet chocolate and raisin, slight roast, and distant fruitiness. The flavor is very raspberry forward with little bits of cocoa, vanilla, and ash. There is some nuttiness in the finish. Raspberry acidity characterizes the aftertaste. Ok, but the raspberry is a little overdone.

On tap at Barley’s. This is dark with a solid head. Raspberry is very strong, but thankfully so is the malty flavors of a stout. Hints at chocolate are in the nose with genuine raspberry. The fruit is even stronger in the flavor but there is enough beer quality for balance. I don’t normally go for a fruit beer but this one is decent. Fans of fruit beer should go nuts for it.
