Cask at Chapel Beer Festival. Clear very dark brown beer. Semi dry palate. Low carbonation. Dark malt, lightly toasted and with a trace of smoke. Porter like tangy dark fruits and quite a bitter hop finish.

Cask, Leicester Fest 10. Dark brown with a bubbly foam. Aromas are roast malts with caramel and chocolate. Also has some wheat notes. Flavours are dark chocolate and coffee with some nuttiness. Peppery and dry with a yeasty finish. Some hints of citrus. Decent.

Cask at Smithfield Hotel, Manchester. A dark nut-brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has notes of sweet and roasted malt as well as nuts. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, roasted malt, and nuts, leading to a dry and very roasted finish. The mouthfeel is very smooth.

Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090124]
