Analogous to Barleywine style ale, Repent Rye is brewed using a large percentage of Rye Malt to forgive the fresh Columbus hops. The end result grants you full absolution and our Rye-Wine Ale. Repent and enjoy!

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with white head. Spicy rye, alcohol, wet carpet aroma. A lot of spicy rye flavoring in this one. Spicy rye, bready, earthy, wet cat food flavors. Hmm, very much a spicy rye beer at a barley wine level alcohol. I don’t think it works that well.

Clear, deep copper pour with a very large and foamy, off-white head. The aroma has a spicy rye, wood ash, and soil. The full body has a slick texture with average carbonation. The taste is sweet with some plum and red wine flavor.

Bottle shared during RBWG 2013 - Jacksonville. Pours clear ruby with a creamy, beige head. Sugary caramel on the nose with licks of alcohol. Medium to big sweet flavor with lightly dried caramel, some leafy bitterness. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately warming to finish with dry earth and leaves, more caramel, some dried fruits. Not bad.

On tap at Shamrocks. Served a cloudy brown color with a tan head and decent lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, herbal, a hint of alcohol and of course some rye. Taste is somewhat fruity, caramel sweetness and bit of brown sugar. Moderate bitterness with a fairly clean finish. Medium body, smooth, a slight grainy texture, with a feel of the 9% ABV. Nice Barley Wine.

Bottle from trade with Strykezone. Rye malt hits you in the nose and the mouth. Sweet, heavy, delicious. Some cane sugar type of sweetness. Love it.

Aroma is citrus, tropical fruit, rye and a hint of hop resin. The flavor is tropical fruit, citrus, malts, mild rye, hop resin and a bitter/dry/mildly tangy finish. Decent although didn’t get much barley-wine characteristics in this.

Bottle. Pours a near clear dark wooden brown head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a strong rye note with some toffee and dark grains. Flavor starts with rye and light bitterness then finishes with a light toffee note.

Pours a dark, murky brown with 1 finger head leaving moderate lacing. Tastes of caramel, roasty malt very rich if a touch too sweet up front. Tapers off into a heavy herbal hop flavor. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. A little chewy. Long bitter finish. Barley Wines aren’t my thing usually, but this one is pretty good.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks Jetson! Pours a hazy reddish brown appearance with a light brown head. Big rich, rye/caramel malty, thick sweet malty, spicy/herbal hoppy, a bit boozy aroma. Light bubble, chewy rich malty, somewhat boozy, dull, papery, herbal/woody hoppy flavor. Not my favorite and kind of strong but not horrible.
