Brown bottle, 33 cl, best before 01/09; eye: burnt orange, voluminous and creamy white head, hazy, suspended matter, light effervescence, light lacing; nose: prior to opening the bottle, it smells exactly like where you pile up all of your bad beers, surprisingly, odours are faint, Belgian yeast, fruity, really light wood and cigar; mouth: waiting time, nothing is going on, then grainy malt, arrival of the alcohol that will not leave after that, a thiny presence of caramel can be tasted as well, finale in alcohol that is quite strong, medium body, alcoholic texture; overall: good but a bit one-dimensional (alcohol) FRANÇAIS Bouteille brune, meilleure avant 01/09; oeil : orange brulée, mousse blanche crémeuse et abondante, voilée, matières en suspension, légère effervescence; nez : avant d’ouvrir la bouteille, ça sent la robine, curieusement après ça, ce sont des odeurs légères, levure belge, fruitée, très léger boisé et cigare; bouche : période d’attente, rien ne se passe, puis malt granuleux, apparation de l’alcool qui ne quittera plus par la suite, un petit filet discret de caramel peut être entreperçue, finale en alcool assez forte, très carbonatée, corps moyen, texture alcoolique; en résumé : bonne mais un peu trop unidimensionnel (alcool)

Burnt liquorice nose with notes of plum and caramel. Underattenuated and grainy palate some malt astringency with mild fruits and candy sugars.

11.2oz. bottle. Hazy dark amber color with a huge, foamy off white head. Nice aroma of caramel, raisins and freshly baked bread. Mildly sweet malty flavor with lots of caramel, dried fruits and yeast. Finishes fairly dry.

Light amber coloured with a small creamy head. Slightly sour aroma and taste. The alcohol is obvious. The hop comes in the end with a light bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Cloudy orange-amber with huge head. Fizzy, orange tartness, medium bodied, pleasent enough but most ambrees dont thrill me.

Pours out a nice carbonated cloudy amber color with a small forming head. It has a very unique fruity aroma of apple cider. The taste is sweet with notes of carmel and sugar with a very nice finish, would be a great beer to have with a piece of apple pie.

33 cl flip-top bottle via Lubiere (merci), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. Gushed. BB: C0209

App.: Hazy orange-amber with lots of small suspended particles and a frail, open white foam. Aroma: Lots of sweet caramel/toffee, fruits and esters, some underlying malic acid brightness, some hazelnuts, light spiciness, yeast and dough. Palate: Medium body, very lively (hence the gushing) and somewhat sharp effervescence. Flav.: Similar to the nose, there is a good deal of caramel, some raisins and dried fruits, some cherries and apples, a bit of the organic acid brightness, a touch of nuts and spices; on swallowing, it is fairly sweet, not bitter, with more than a touch of alcohol.

Certainly not a bad brew, but it didn’t thrill me (except when it came forth from the bottle like a fizzy volcano).

Bottle, Aikmans, St Andrews. Hazy, thin white head. Fruity fizzy hoppy, peach and some lemoney tones. Mouth is quite sweet with some grassy notes and some meaty flavours. Finishes quite sweet and with some plummy vinous tones. Quite nice, but not brilliant.
