The colour is blond opaque with a big head. The aroma has lot of character with notes of quince and lemon. The flavour is pleasant and very interesting with a nice mix of acidity and sweetness. Very long fruity aftertaste. An original and very interesting beer.

Cloudy golden color. Some hop and malt in the aroma, candi sugar. Pretty sweet, malty, equilibrated in all, a background fruity note (banana...). Palate and hop are just right. Dangerous.

Martinus (871) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - MAY 16, 2011
Tasting notes of a very old bottle, best before 07 2006. Tasted May 2011.
Warm blond colour with a shy, disappearing white head. Aroma of madeira, raisins, dried and candied fruits. Flavour has the same key notes with rather nice caramel and malt tones. Sweetish, sticky mouthfeel and no detectable hops left, as could be expected. Nicely developed for a blond beer. This beer is definitely still pretty, even at high age - provided that you like this kind of madeira notes in old beer of course. (33 cL bottle @ Café Jos, Nijmegen)

cloudy pale orange colour, big head, cider, vinegar and spicy aroma, heavy and oily, strong alcohol presence, sweet and creamy, lot of carbonation, tart, long deep spicy and nutty finish - quite unusual and complex

Yellow blond colour, small white head. Aroma is malty, some white chocolate. Smouth taste little bit bitter-sweet, yet strong. Finish is alcoholic with sweet hints; some bitterness. Balanced beer, I love this one.

A bit rustic, a blonde with a little barnyard. Complex aroma, warming. Spicy, but there are no additives except candy sugar. Nice.

This one came out of the bottle a cloudy beige colour with little head. It reminded me of Chimay white but with less carbonation and more spice. Complex aromas but not over the top in taste. The alcohol was noticeable in taste and effect. It made a pleasant change from the dark Christmas brews I have been trying. It came in an attractive swing-top bottle and cost $8.90 from Rumbles for a 330ml bottle. Worth it for a treat.
