33cl Brown bottle, same as everyone else, normal cap, but with the ’flip-top’ holes in the long neck: poured slowly into my Augustijn chalice in Sep 2011. Don’t think any sediment left the bottle, the beer looked grand anyway: clear, deep amber in colour, the full head an off-white hue. Rows of bubbles rising through the body to enhance the already impressive crown on top. I found Almounds in the smell, earthy malts rather than sweet ones, Belgian yeasts also add their own twist to the aroma. I’ve struggled with some Belgian Brown Ales, but this isn’t as sweet compared to a lot of them: well balanced and very easy to drink it belies the mith of uber sweet Belgian Browns, bloody pleased. The alcohol content is well contained within the brew and adds to it’s complexity without taking away any of the many attributes of the beer. In short, a lot better than I thought it was going to be!

Beige creamy head. Light brown colour. Aroma is malty, fruity (peach, banana) with vinous and candy notes, Flavor is malty with fruity (ripe apricots and mango) and light caramel tones, ending in a balanced and gently fruity finish. Medium to full bodied.

Bottle from Belgianshop. Automatic pour, gusher light, murky brown with a tiny off-white head. Aroma of nutty malts, light fruity hops. Taste is fresh with a cellar like dark malty dominated sweetness, lively and fresh citrussy mouthfeel, good brune.

Weak flavor, weak bubbles. A nice aroma. Bottle contained a lot more wort ’chunks’ than this style typically has. Slight sour undertones.

Bottle via bourbon street liquors. Burnt sienna brown with a steady film of tan head. Thinner body. Nose of biting strawberry...not sweet. Hints of spices in body ...faint cinnamon and light clove. finish is abrupt. Curious that this was a capped 330 ml swing top bottle with minus the swing top. For as complex the names of the town and brewery are to comprehend, this beer was fairly one dimensional and a bit lackluster.

Bottle @ Delirium, Brussels.
Pours clear chestnut brown with a medium, creamy, off-white head. Great lacings. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, coriander and a great hint of strawberries. Medium carbonation, dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is lovely, malty, molasses, coriander, light cinnamon. Lovely dry and quite hoppy sharp finish. Extremely well-balanced beer.

Deep hazy brown pour with a thick head. The nose is really lovely. The yeast is very bright and spicy. Deep, dark dried fruit and a lot of soft spice. Fresh and chewy with a distinct note of red licorice. Fruity with dried dates, figs and some brighter fruity lightness. It tastes like the Abbaye des Rocs yeast - fruity and spicy. Really rich lovely brew with a little bit of chocolate on the back in addition to all of the bright fruit. Palate is softly sweet and fruity with a nice yeasty fruitiness. A little lacking in the body department - not really watery but a little lacking in oomph. Notwithstanding this - it’s a very tasty brown.

Rich and strong fruit malt aroma. Hazy amber color with a small white head. Light tart bitter beginning. Bitterness builds in the finish then fades in the end.
