3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 6.8%. Mild spicy aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is OK malty with a little brett note which freshens it up and balances it off nicely.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Terre de Boissons. Calais. Light brown colour. Malt is pretty tasty. Hmmmm. I have had a couple of Belgian brunes recently after going ages without having one and I have decided I really like them. Some estery flavours. Very characterful and interesting and drinkable.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. An unclear, murky brown beer with a fine beige head leaving lacings. Sourish nose, citrus and lemon, with some dried fruits and caramel. Citrusy flavor with caramel and some cellar. Yeasty notes too. Dry. Sour and bitter finish. Where the Blond was a pleasant, tasteful beer, this one is almost the opposite. 091024

Medium carbonation, dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is lovely, malty, molasses, coriander, light cinnamon. Lovely dry and quite hoppy sharp finish. Extremely well-balanced beer.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep hazy brown pour with a thick head. The nose is really lovely. The yeast is very bright and spicy. Deep, dark dried fruit and a lot of soft spice. Fresh and chewy with a distinct note of red licorice. Fruity with dried dates, figs and some brighter fruity lightness. It tastes like the Abbaye des Rocs yeast - fruity and spicy. Really rich lovely brew with a little bit of chocolate on the back in addition to all of the bright fruit. Palate is softly sweet and fruity with a nice yeasty fruitiness. A little lacking in the body department - not really watery but a little lacking in oomph. Notwithstanding this - it’s a very tasty brown.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Huge brown-beige head, ovre hazy red-brown beer. Thick malty, syrupy nose, some smell of raw - if fresh - eggs, and autumn leaves. Very malty. Empty, dull-sweet, pointing all the way to fully fermented brown candi sugar. Faint dry malts, watered-down candi syrup. Light, watery & thin MF. Frustratingly disappointing beer, certainly seen the surprisingly pleasing Blonde.
