COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Full of rich complex malt flavours. Using a broad mix of chocolate and crystal malts, the Cavalier Brown delivers an initial burst of caramel sweetness, followed by a dry, crisp roasted note. The perfect mix of chocolate and toasty caramel flavours. With added complexity aromas from classic American hops add subtle citrus notes that will reveal something new in every sip.

A slight bitter taste, pretty easy going for a brown. Quite tasty.

Aroma is subtle and pleasant. Nice dark brown appearance with a lasting lace to the glass posta quickly receding head. Flavour is thin low carbonation. Over all a little to mild for me. Nicely made but not a great beer.

(Tap) Clear dark brown with ruby hints and thin tan head. Subtle malt aroma. Light body, good carbonation. Some interesting coffee smoky notes in flavour. Overall a nice brown ale.

Pours a very dark brown, plenty of chocolate and caramel taste. Quite a solid beer without wowing in any category.

Deep brown in colour, mostly chocolate flavour. Nice way to finish off their range. Nothing overly special though.

Colour is ruby-brown and clear with a good latte coloured head. Aromas are forthcoming and are of freshly ground coffee, cocoa and chocolate. It is cool in the mouth and has an earthy cocoa and carob flavour (and I have to say, I hate carob, but will not allow this to colour my judgment). It is strongly flavoured and definitely not your traditional brown ale. It hasn’t got the soft, unctuous nuttiness of a traditional dog. The finish is of enduring fizzy mouthfeel and that same chocolate and carob. Bugger.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Pours chestnut brown with a small, firm off white head. Nose is loaded with chocolate malts and light nutty under tones. Slightly sweet and biscuity in the taste but the chocolate shines in this. Slightly ashy on the finish. Seems to be half way between a brown and a porter. Nice beer

330mL bottle, pours dark brown with a big chocolate aroma. Has a sweetness to begin with followed by ash and chocolate. Nice beer.

330ml bottle. Very highly carbonated as there is a big whoosh when you pop the cap and the glass fills with heaps of loosely condensed brown foam that takes a while to a settle. The beer itself is a dark brown colour and looks solid. Aromas of coffee beans and chocolate. Lively in the mouth with lots of chocolate in the flavour, very tasty.

Looks a picture when poured on tap at beer de luxe. Lovely body supported soft roast and delicious chocolate. Warming in the glass as it is now, the malt takes on greater complexity. A nicely wrought beer and great to see brown ales making a come back.
