2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 beerfest5 (806) - Simsbury, USA - OCT 18, 2011
12 oz bottle poured into pint glass, darker than expected even for more of an english style IPA, this is almost maroon, small off white head. Aroma of bready- buscuity malts, no real hope characteristics in the aroma besides some leafy pine. Taste is similar but not the same as aroma, addition of tea, more piney than the aroma would suggest. Very english IPA as opposed to American IPA, but nothing really exciting or unusual here.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 beerbill (2938) - Laurel, New York, USA - OCT 29, 2011
12 oz. bottle. Pours brown with a massive tan head. Despite gentle pouring into a 16 oz. glass this thing spilled over big time. Really difficult to pick up much if any aroma because of the huge head. The flavor is malty with some weak hops bitterness at the finish. The bottle says 35 IBU’s and this beer is nowhere near that. There’s no date on the bottle so there’s no way to tell if this is an age issue or just not a good IPA, or both. As a pale ale, it is ok, as an IPA, a poor representation of the style.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pellegjr (297) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - AUG 2, 2011
Bottle courtesy of Cletus, pours clean amber w/ thick foamy head, heavy caramel malt aroma, some resiny hops, caramel malt up front w/ a crisp dry finish, some noticeable adjunct on finish, some balancing hops but far from assertive, needs more hops

I’m not a fan of the IPA style so I was actually pleased that this beer didn’t have a particularly bitter taste to it. It was much darker than I’d expected and less bitter than I’d anticipated. I like Cavalry in general as they are about 20-30 minutes from me and I think, in generally, they make fun, drinkable, and inexpensive beers.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours deep ruby/brown with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of cereal and light caramel malts, grass and resin hops, and a little dough/cheese. This doesn’t really seem like an IPA. The hops do not stand out. Average texture. An alright beer, but not good for its style.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rocbyter (1528) - Waterbury, Connecticut, USA - MAY 28, 2011
Mild malt and hop mix to become kind of stinky but not to bad. Clear amber color with a small off white head. Light bitter quickly getting sweet with a light amount of broccoli hops.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cletus (6064) - Connecticut, USA - MAY 27, 2011
Pours mahogany with a tan head. Smells of tea, nutty, some peppery hints. Tastes of resiny hops and nutty with a biscuity finish. Too much malt presence for the style.
