COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with elderflower.

Saison Cazeau is a light white beer, refermented in the bottle, with 5% alcohol content. As well as the Pilsen malt and two hops which give it a really nice bitter flavour, Saison is laced with elderflowers (Sambucus Nigra L.) which make it really refreshing. The elderflower only blooms for three weeks between mid-May and mid-June, which means that production of our Saison is very time-limited.

750 ml bottle- found at Abes In pa I think. Pours a nice mostly clear (first pour) light golden with a big rocky head and nice lacing. Aroma is earthy, light delicate doughy pils malts, some fresh bread at first, with a light spicy earthy salty phenolic (seems like a great start), light pils malt, hay and grass and light hops- as it warms more black pepper comes out and even some green bell pepper- this is where it gets weird... Flavor starts out ok- doughy malts, some spice, phenolics, pepper, then gets a touch crackery, thins out a bit in the middle and continues as it warms, with more green bell pepper spicyness, grass, toast, light plastic pheniolics, earth, leather, - fairly dry but gets a bit thin, lemon pepper and green bell pepper bordering on jalepeno towards the end- fairly dry but not real body at the end to back it up- gets crackery and thin.

Bottle from Smithís. Pours chill hazy deep gold w 4f white fluffy head. Nose is floral, spicy, with hopcitrus, malt, and a bone dry taste, with the floral, spicy, and hopcitrus in the flavor as well. Decent, but not a repeater and not much complexity here.

The aroma is sour, basement, damp. The appearance is a hazy, milky white/yellow, wh head. The flavor is dusty, wheat, cereal grains. The finish is a light sour flavor, wheat, spices. The body is thin/medium. Decent.

caesar (5185) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - JUN 2, 2010
Bottled 75cl. Hazy yellow color, medium white head. Aroma is a bit dusty like a saison, quite fruity of some citrus and elderflower, which gives the typical aroma to the beer. Bit bitter taste, quite dry, yeasty. Decent fruity saison.

Bottled from Burg Bieren, Ermelo. Hazy golden colored, huge head. Very hoppy and herbal nose, flowery, very good. Dry and bitter flavor, high on carbonation. Dry finish. Not bad, but a bit harsh and too straightforward to really impress.

Pours gold into a tulip. Bright white head meringues and leaves chunks as it recedes to skim surface. Sweet caramel and wildflower aromas. Smooth with upfront fruity grass turning bitter hay in the middle and onto the lasting finish.

An ok but not overly fantastic saison. The elderflowers arenít too dominating, which is a good thing and it was nice to try but Iím probably not going for it again. Had a Saison Dupont afterwards - much better.

Bottle from Utobeer. Cloudy gold in colour, with a big, tight white head and plenty of carbonation. Light, wheaty aroma with some lemon and floral hops. Flavour of citrus fruits, spice and yeast with a dryish finish. Didnít detect any elderflowers. Ok.

330 ml bottle that claimed to be 750 ml (was not fooled by this) @ Gallows Bird. Poured hazy yellow with an abundant creamy white head. The aroma was yeasty and spicy with a floral character. The flavour was very dry with lots of bitterness from the hops. Could not distinguish the taste of elderflower.
