Brewed with elderflower.

Saison Cazeau is a light white beer, refermented in the bottle, with 5% alcohol content. As well as the Pilsen malt and two hops which give it a really nice bitter flavour, Saison is laced with elderflowers (Sambucus Nigra L.) which make it really refreshing. The elderflower only blooms for three weeks between mid-May and mid-June, which means that production of our Saison is very time-limited.

Pours gold into a tulip. Bright white head meringues and leaves chunks as it recedes to skim surface. Sweet caramel and wildflower aromas. Smooth with upfront fruity grass turning bitter hay in the middle and onto the lasting finish.

An ok but not overly fantastic saison. The elderflowers arenít too dominating, which is a good thing and it was nice to try but Iím probably not going for it again. Had a Saison Dupont afterwards - much better.

Bottle from Utobeer. Cloudy gold in colour, with a big, tight white head and plenty of carbonation. Light, wheaty aroma with some lemon and floral hops. Flavour of citrus fruits, spice and yeast with a dryish finish. Didnít detect any elderflowers. Ok.

330 ml bottle that claimed to be 750 ml (was not fooled by this) @ Gallows Bird. Poured hazy yellow with an abundant creamy white head. The aroma was yeasty and spicy with a floral character. The flavour was very dry with lots of bitterness from the hops. Could not distinguish the taste of elderflower.

Hazy blond beer with a nice white head. Citrus and hoppy aroma and taste. Dry and nicely bitter. Some flowers and herbs noticable. Very refreshing and an excellent saison.

0.33 l bottle.Hazy yellow brown color, spritzy appearance. Fruity, spicy, flowery and perfumed aroma with grapefruit. Dry spicy flavor with yeasty bitterness, flowery perfume, orange and pepper. There are some nice Belgian vibes but the yeasty bitterness is somewhat disturbing.

750ml from Caponeís, Norristown. Huge prickly carbonation makes this beer boom out of the bottle, with an unruly head and some decent lacing. Pleasant golden body if you can find it. The nose is quite sharp, almost spicy, with a touch of fruitiness in there. You canít really ignore the presence of the flowers, which give it a kind of raw, earthen quality in the taste. While I enjoy that dimension, it does kind of crowd the other qualities out. Not bad.
