Dark brown, mostly clear with big frothy tan head. Malty dark base, roasty, cereal and nuts. Good amount of hop backup. Tinteling palate that packs a good amount of flavour, both bitter and roasted. Warming ending. Surprising winter beer that?s hop forward yet still works very well as end of the year treat. Awesome! (33cl bottle from De Bierwinkel Leiden)

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Off-white head with good retention recedes leaving scant sheets. Dark caramel, pit fruit and spice aromas. Dark pumpernickel upfront turning to sweet dark toffee and juniper in the lasting earthy finish.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear brown with a medium but fading tan head and an aroma of sweet malts, ripe red fruits, toffee, milk chocolate and herbs. The taste is mainly malty, not too sweet and with a medium complex spiciness and bitterness. There’s a bit of sourness in the finish. Just a nice beer, but not too special to me.

On tap @Moeder Lambic. This wasn’t the first time I had this beer. Dark colour with a small head. Notes of cherry and orange. For sure it’s just a winter beer! :D

Biere Ambrée bien foncée pour ne pas dire brune. Petite amertume, une pointe acidulée. Un petit fumé. Légerement fruité au nez, raisin sec. Le côté alcool un peu persistant

Wow! Big shock for me as I just picked it up by chance and expected nothing. From the moment I poured it I knew it was going to be good. Great deep brown body and lovely fluffy cream coured head it just looked amazing. Typical raisin, prune, dark fruits, caramel, slight liquorice with a nice bitter finish. I dont get much spice which is fine after drinking Gouden Carolus Noël yesterday! This is a great Xmas beer.

Bottle to snifter. Looks solid; a semi-transparent brown with fluffy semi-transparent light beige lacing. Smells somewhat doughy, bitter, and yeasty. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Alright.

New Beer Distributors, NY 330ml ($5): Pours a rather dark brown with a small light brown head. Aroma is dark fruity, some yeast, and some burnt sugar. Taste has a slight hoppy undertone. Moderate amounts of sweetness, plenty of maltiness, and a healthy dosage of fruitiness. Body is low carb and medium. Not too bad.
