Bomber from Liz. Pours very dark brown/black with some large tan bubbles. Aroma of chocolate and smooth burnt malt. Near full bodied. Flavor is lightly smokey, darkly milk chocolate, earthy burnt malt. It’s sort of earthy/gritty. Finishes on a bitter note. Love Fuggles.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft… Tar black ale with a creamy, beige head. Good retention slowly leaves thick lacing. The aroma is an enjoyable medley of dark chocolate, espresso and leather with a hint of vanilla. Full-bodied and very creamy with soft carbonation. The flavor is grainy with lots of coffee and bitter roastiness. Mid-lengthy, burnt, moderately bitter finish. I’m not certain whether this was served on nitro or not. Nice effort.

Rotbox offering @ home. Pours a dark brown appearance with a thin dark brown head. There’s some coffee and anise notes in the nose. Oatmeal and a smoke as well. Some frosting notes. Kind of thin and watery. Fairly burnt / smoky flavor. Dark chocolate. Fairly bitter / herbal finish. Bleh.

Sample at the 4th Annual Coldest Day of the Year Stout Tasting on 01/21/2012: This brew is an opaque black color with a medium thin tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. The aroma consists of roasted malt and coffee. Medium-bodied (actually a little on the thin side) with flavors of chocolate, roasted malt and mild coffee. The finish is malty with a short and faint hops aftertaste. Just alright overall.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber. Poured deep brown with a sticky, well-retained dark tan head. The aroma picked up sweet cocoa and vanilla with light-moderate black patent roastage.. sweet and well-presented. The flavor found more dry-roasted chocolates (of the little bit darker variety), with dry cocoa accents around.. black patent carried most of the weight.. tacky and a little sharp on the edges.. overall tasty, but not great. Medium-bodied at most on the palate.. just the slightest bit sour around.. dry, with lots of roast sitting on the finish. This was an average, and certainly drinkable stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber pours very dark with thin mocha head. The aroma has dark roasted malts, an ashy note, a mild sense of dark fruity esters, maybe a sort of lactose note and then a short whiff of burnt toffee. The taste starts with dark roasted malts and then rolls into burnt malts, a mild roasted malt astringent tartness and a quick thin pulse of sweet dark fruity esters. Midway and into the finish notes of burnt toffee covered brownie yumminess join in.

Draft @ FBGBF ’010. Pouring up deep darkness with ruby mahogany edges and thin tan head. The modest aroma has a thin layer of pine hops and a sense of malt roastiness to go along with a splash of burnt malts. The taste starts with roasted malts, a touch of pine and then rolls into some burnt malts and a pleasing touch of earthiness.
