3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 alagnak (467) - Littleton, USA - OCT 31, 2009
Bottle from TOny’s in Littleton. As an aside - took a lot of searching to find it in the RB database. Pours surprisingly light - cloudy yellow. Aroma is a nice blend of grassy hops and belgian yeast. Flavor is lemony yeast to start, and a bone-dry finish with a pleasant lasting bitterness. Reminds me of Westy Blonde, actually - though not nearly as complex. All in all - this is a really nice beer. A little pricey and - it wouldn’t score super-high against a lot of other IPA’s, but it’s quite good. Bonus point for wishing I had bought another.

interesting aroma, very lemony with bright crisp biscuity malt. pours a hazy straw with big fizzy quickly-receding head. flavor is tart in front and then bland. light and crisp and overcarbed. this is not an ipa by any stretch. lightly hopped saison maybe. not bad, but seriously, there is almost no bitterness. first craft spanish beer i’ve seen, but jeez, what are they doing over there?

Pour is a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma is dry cracker malts with some hoppyness. Flavor is a ok hop to start then comes some pils like malt and finishes dry and bland. Little to no aftertaste. Just ok and better than the rest I’ve had from this brewer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beer2000 (2919) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - SEP 9, 2011
330 ml bottle. Hazy golden body with a diminishing off-white head. Aroma is mild malty with some grassy/herbal hops. Flavor is refreshing bitter, mild malt and hint of citric fruit. Medium body. Kind of interesting beer, but not an IPA in my book. Not very bitter, but feels refreshing. A bit unusually hop flavor as well, something between grassy and light fruity. Pleasant aftertaste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 TAR (2214) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - SEP 5, 2011
Lightly fogged golden. Ample white foam gradually collapses into a broken center and sustained collar. Plasticlike phenols line the subdued nose, along with straw, pear, honeycomb, sage, and a hint of children’s aspirin. Soft, lush carbonation. Light-bodied. Bottle-conditioned. Delicately tart and explosively airy with a pleasant phenolic snap. Dry on the palate with a ghostlike dusting of papery, straw-tinged malt. Clean and supremely quaffable, but consequently quite hollow with the exception of some lingering dough and sweetish honey residuals. Hops are floral and lightly herbaceous, though both the flavor and bitterness are virtually nonexistent, thus failing to contribute compensatory depth. Extremely mute yet nicely integrated finish is comprised of lilac and honeysuckle with lurking phenols and a dab of firm malt. Not a whole lot of character here, and it’s certainly hampered by the aforementioned hollowness. But it is quite clean and quaffable. I dearly love low-gravity beers, but at almost $6 for an 11.2 oz. bottle of this, I will never revisit.
