3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Kestral (494) - Årnes, - JUL 12, 2011
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden with a fizzy head that barely exists before it’s gone. Pleasant and rounded floral and fruity hop aroma, with toasty malts underneath. Melons, apricots. A tiny bit buttery. Fairly straightforward in the flavour department, with a hiny of a sour note in the finish. A little thin in body, this could use some more girth. Carbonation was fairly sparse. All in all, a decent pale ale.

Pour is a dull orange with a friggin huge white head. Aroma has some hops along with a ok caramel malt. Flavor is weak and watery with the hops only showing up very late and even that can’t save this. Way to thin and light.

Tastes and smells more like an APA than an EPA. Citrus in flavor with some decent malts, overall pretty good.

33cl bottle from a local supermarket. It pours a cloudy deep golden-amber liquid with a small-medium white and bubbly head that dissipates quickly with no lacing. The aroma is complex, with a rather strong hoppiness, grassy and floral alike, with a little citron; and a very nice roasted malty base, with some caramel notes. It tastes a little maltier, with a citrus/herbal balance of the roastiness and the general sweetness of this brew. It finishes semi-dry, sweet and bitter. A nice brew that tastes very natural. Presentation (bottle and crown cap) is OK.
