COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big and friendly, our Brown Ale is as approachable as its inspirationóCedric, George Vanderbiltís beloved St. Bernard. Our deep russet-colored beer offers hints of caramel and roasted barley, with a nutty flavor produced by Victoryô malt. The crisp finish is marked by well-balanced hops.

Nuttiness is predominate in the nose accompanied by caramel and baked bread. Medium to chestnut brown with a decent off-white head. Sweet with just enough bitterness to balance. Medium bodied with a sweet nutty finish.

Bottle, thanks sevenhokie! Malty, nutty aroma with caramel notes. Pours medium brown colored with a tan, thin head and good lacing. Great brown ale. Strong nuttiness followed by sweet caramel malt to start. Finishes smooth with a touch of hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 ounce bottle from a friend. This is clear and kind of cinnamon colored. A tan head has good retention. Nice lacing. Carbonation floats visibly up from the bottom. An earthy and nutty aroma. The flavor begins with a little hop bite up front. Light bitterness and citrus and noble hop notes. Nuts and rich malts. Earth. This is fairly well balanced but is a little light on the flavor. A spicy hop aftertaste.

Bottle. Aroma of warm bread and roasted pecans. Very well balanced... malts of toast and caramel, hops are not overly bitter. Nice example of a good brown ale. Would be glad to get this in my area from time to time.

Dark reddish brown, loose white head. Smells like roasted walnuts and chocolate - very malty. Taste is nutty, woody, bready. and lightly sweet. Dryish finish.

Tap @ Cedric's tavern @ the Biltmore Estate - pours a clear dark brown with a white head, lots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is nutty, with some caramel notes. Taste is bitter almonds. Overall, solid, though not spectacular. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Had this one bottled; thanks Chris! Outstanding brown ale, had a great, nutty, almost sweet maltiness that helped balance what was a mild, herby hoppiness. Smooth, milky finish. Outstanding example.

Not quite what I expected from a brown ale. Lighter colour and aroma than the norm. The nose was a little funky reminiscent of a French Farmhouse Ale. The taste was better than the aroma. Some medium roasted malt present balanced nicely with bitterness from the hops. Actually, it gets more flavorful as it warms.
