Celestial Meads is known for sourcing excellent quality raw, first flow, no-heat Tupelo honey. Now Master Mead-Maker Mike Kiker has combined this rare, expensive and exotic honey with the quintessential Alaskan Fruit; Black currants harvested from the foothills of the Alaska Range. This extraordinary mead opens with a complex nose of raspberry, persimmons, and dark chocolate. The highly reflective meniscus hints at the mead’s complex structure. The rusty, garnet colored mead has excellent clarity. Heavy legs march down the glass in an organized, orderly manner. After some breathing, the mead really show-cases the spicy Tupelo notes best described as spearmint and gumdrops. This mead has a medium mouth-feel, significant viscosity, and is more semi-sweet than a full-on dessert mead. Alaskan Currants have a robust, musky, pungent flavor that is tricky to work with. This mead expresses perfect balance by allowing the delicate Tupelo notes to come through while pairing well with just the right amount of currants. Rich flavors of dark chocolate, tart-cherry, and mint combine to create a very complex mead. Highly recommended. Enjoy!

750ml bottle. Clear ruby red and still. Aroma of honey, cranberry, alcohol and a bit of oak. The flavor is lots of semisweet honey with some dry tart cranberry and a light alcohol taste. The mouth feel is semisweet and finishes with a tiny bit of dryness. Overall this is a great Melomel, the tupelo honey blends very nice with the currents.

This bottled mead from a rating party poured no head at all and a transparent body with an oily lacing. The weak aroma was of berries. The weak flavor contained notes of fairly dry sweet berries. An OK mead just nothing special.

This is a jewel-like reddish orange mead and is still. Obvious berry nose with a dry honey sweetness. Flavor has the currant berry and sweet honey that you would expect from the name, with some raisen and an herbal note. Tastey fruit mead.

Wow this was absolutely delicious. Extremely rare from what I understand from the mead maker. Lovely flowery nose, with just a hint of sweet spice, and an almost minty, eucaplyptus quality. The fruit quality is unique, in the sense that I had never really experience that in a beer or mead before, only in wines. Very highly recommended.
