Commercial Description:
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

The head died rather quickly on this cloudy, pale straw beer. It’s got a pleasant soft aroma, banana and tart citrus fruits with a touch of spices. The flavor disappoints somewhat - yeasty with sour lemon and wheat malt. Okay for a warm weather drink.

0,33 bottle. Hazy white-yellow with medium head, really beautiful. Aroma is fruity, mainly banana - really adorable. Flavour is strongly citric, bit wheaty and bit sour. Palate smooth, very nice mouthfeel. Much enjoyable.

250 ml bottle. Hazy golden, minor head. Fruit-candy and strong banana aroma. Notes og herbs. Taste is light citric, light wheaty, light sourish. Thin body and sourish mouthfeel. Fair.

The head is small on this very pale and hazy wit. Both aroma and flavour are thin, they only have weak notes of fruit and citrus. I would have liked more body, but thirst quenching it is...

Bottle, 5% as Gensch Mannekes Pies. Aroma of citrus, clove, chalk. Hazy yellow colour, small white head. The flavour is dominated by citrus, mostly lemon, along with some clove. High carbonation and good mouthfeel. Very refreshing.

Wheat and spice aroma. Sweet, wheaty flavor. It isn’t complex, but it is spot on for the style, if a little sweet. Cloudy yellow and tall white head.

(Draught at Bishops Arms, Västra Hamngatan, Göteborg) Served ice cold. Shady grape color, small white head. Lime and pine scent, mixed with some estery banana. Spritzy high co2 mouthfeel. Sweet somewhat acidic and lemon taste, some Belgian ale and banana taste as well. Low bitterness.

Bottle. Hazy blonde with a nice big mostly lasting white head leaving a good lacing. Fruity, yeasty, banana and bit sweet citrus aroma. Flavour of yeast and wheat, banana, plenty of fruitiness, bit sourish. Yeasty fruity finish. Tasty fruity Belgian wheat beer! 13th of May 2008: Also tasted as "Gensch Mannekes Pies" and still a very fruity tasty ale (also 3.6).
