jodah52 (47), Michigan, USA Jun 9, 2009 Pours light, cloudy; good witbier color, though a bit more yellow than most. Medium-sized head of white foam, vanishing in about a minute. Aroma is of malt and wheat, almost bready with a slight acidic tang; flavor is malty, grainy, slightly sweet and sour. Slight aroma of citrus and hops in the finish. Not very complex, but a good beer for refreshment on a hot day. wimpie133 (130), Brugge, Belgium Jun 7, 2009 From tap at De Garre, perfectly served whith a beautiful dark yellow and hazy colour and a beautiful white head lacing nicely. The smell is grainy and coriander, but is a bit at the light side. The taste goes grainy, with some notices of wheat and barley, a light bitter agreeable taste, some touches of lemon included. The aftertaste is light sweet. The overall taste is rather sharp, more than the Hoegaarden, but perfectyl enjoyable. This is a very good, refreshing beer. Parket (219), Bruges, Belgium Jun 7, 2009 I druk the Celis White from tap (and perfectly poured!) in ’café de garre’ in Bruges. Very nice white/yellow colour and nice and stable white head. Smell: coriander. Taste: very refreshing, grassy and sharp, grainy, bitter, lemon. mbuisman79 (134), Amsterdam, Netherlands May 16, 2009 Nice beer that is very refreshing, loses a little of it’s good taste after a while. bottle could be a little bigger too.
I ako (153), Turku, Finland Apr 21, 2009 (Tap @ Mallaskukko) Hazy yellow, white head. Aroma of lemon juice. Tastes like fermented lemon juice, slightest hint of wheat. Little herbs in flavor. Very refreshing, like drinking lemon juice. Pinball (2693), Allerød, Denmark Apr 13, 2009 33cl bottle
cloudy citrussy, thick white head.
aroma is citrus , yeast, well balanced.
flavor is citrussy, slight sour, well balanced, very refreshing. TheJollyOne (204), Kofu, Japan Apr 13, 2009 Tap. Nice lacing on the head, typical hazy wit body. Smell focuses on lemon and citrus. Taste leans towards sweet, lemon, grapefruit, and less clove than others. Very clean and refreshing.
A great beer that comes close but cant quite topple its older brother. marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Apr 12, 2009 On tap at Toronado. This cloudy white beer poured with a decent white head and a citrus aroma. There is a slightly sour yeasty flavor with trailing spices, the usual coriander and orange peel. This is a good witbier, if you happen to like that style.
