Commercial Description:
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

The DM & Hotstuff’s European Honeymoon trip beer number 33. This bottled brew from the De Garre pub in Brugge poured a small head of white colored diminished but long lasting finely sized bubbles that left behind a cloudy dark white yellow colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was mildly malted and almost non-existent. The mouth feel was tingly and hoppy with a fruit bite in the otherwise clean finish. The flavor contained notes of mild white malts and coriander with a fruity mild banana note.

Hazy Bright Yellow. Suprising, strong and spiced nose. The coriander was the most prominent, a blend of sweet and bitter, but also notes of butter toffee, orange, citrus fruits and have phenols. Very phonolic in its flavor. Strong spices (coriander, orange peel) with hints of citrus fruits and caramel. Well balanced. This was a good one and great for the style.

Draft at Staminee de Garre. Named De Witte van Celis. Hazy, light tangerine colored blond. Medium white head. Spicy, citrusy aroma with wheat, and yeast backbone. Taste is citrus, coriander, wheat yeast and some floral flavors. Body is spicy with lively carbonation. Finishes well with citrus (lemon) and more spices.

(Draught) Pale yellow, hazy, nice white head. Aroma of coriander, wheat flour, citrus skin. Taste is coriander again, "wheaty" charachter, weak sourness finish. Light body.

Hazy, yellow ale with a small, creamy, white head. Decent, swirling retention with just a hint of ink-blot lacing. The aroma is spicy and fruity with notes of lemon, soap and straw. The well-balanced flavor is a little too thin for my taste, but very lemony, pleasant and refreshing. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish.

As Celis White
Citrus-melon aroma, hoppy and spicy, and with a bit of honey. Some acidic tang, though - vinegary. Cloudy yellow-amber with small white lacing head. Medium-light body with soft carbonation. Starts acidic, citrusy, with hoppy tang. Papery stale hops, lemon finish. Light wheat, no sweetness. After is weak and watery, light spice. Not a great wit.

Nice pale hazy yelow body with a dense level white head. The aroma is very lemony with just a hint of sweetness. The flavor is also very lemony with the sweetness a bit more noticeable. Very nice palate, medium-light, crisp, and very refreshing. A nice Wit. Thanks CaptainCougar!
