3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
An unclear light yellow beer with a fine head. The aroma fruity and dominated by lemon. The flavor is rather sour and like lemon. In the middle it is a little wheaty flat and sweet. In the end the flavor is slightly acidic wheaty. A very fresh beer. I think the Belgian version is more sour than the American version.

2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Huge coriander aroma. Very faint malt and no hops. Some phenols evident. Very pale gold color, with no haze (there should be a haze in this style). Big, fluffy white head. Flavor is all coriander and phenol. Too much coriander, comes across as soapy. The spice and the phenol is overdone, without enough real beer character to make up for it.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Pours the color and texture of a thin pineapple juice. A thin layer of white foam sitting on top. A strange aroma of melon, pineapple, yeast, bubblegum, lemon and cinnamon. No real banana or clove. A strange flavor that replicates the nose. Fairly easy to drink, but man, is it one weird beer or what? I will probably pass on this one in the future.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 3, 2004 Tap, Hazy lemon yellow, good lasting white head and moderate condition. Lemon-grapefruit citrus aromas with a spicy corriander note and a touch of honey. Thin in the mouth with more honey and citrus and a slight metallic twang. Finish is spicy and citric with a chalky dry mouthfeel.

1.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20
No haziness (=bad). Looks like an American Light. Straw colored. Bubblegum, yeasty aroma. Sweet. Suggests beer might make a come back from poor aesthetics. Fair amount of carbonation. Quickly diminishing head. Boring palate. No sweetness. Overall a very boring beer. Nor does it taste good.

At the Palace Hotel in Poperinge - Slight diacetly in aroma. A bit light in body, flavors not as full as they used to be.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pale cloudy straw colour with a sweet vinegar aroma. Biscuits, vinegar, sugar and coconut milk make up the rather soft palate, not really interesting.

Wow, orange peel and apple aroma. Very refreshing with something new that works just fine. Light, slightly tart with soft flavour of banana. Yeasty, very delicious beer. Gentle and skillfully crafted.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A wonderful wit with a little twist - pungeancy. Colour is straw coloured and turbid with a thick white head. Corriander notes in the nose and I think sweet orange peels. Lightly hopped and somewhat tart and thirst quenching. Some vanilla notes. Ironically, this Celis is brewed by Hoegaarden in Belgium.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A cloud of perfect foam resting on a lovely frosted grey yellow expanse. Beautiful flavor - strong coriander, orange, tangy and spicy. Subtle yet with strength. A truly fine beer. Highly recommended!
