COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

Cloudy light golden with a large pillowy fizzing head. Weak coriander and citrus aroma. Body is watery and still with a mellow lemonade flavor profile. Not very complex, but is a good refresher for a hot summer day.

Standard Belgian wheat beer appearance, with a citric and nutmeg aroma. Refreshing citric tinged flavour with a hint of bitterness. A very good Belgian wheatbeer overall.

diabel (1603) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - MAY 23, 2003
White ale, but to me, it has a litlle bit a watery-colour, although it has a nice white head. It has a typical Witbier-aroma (like Hoegaarden), it smells like some kind of soda. It has even the typical (quite disgusting) flavour of the Hoegaarden beer. The difference between this-one and Hoegaarden is very small.

This beer has a light yellow body - hue with a sweet initial flavor and a light body.

Perhaps a great beer, but the one I got was sour (lactic). It was precisely like danish "koldskĺl". Funny thing.

UPDATED: DEC 2, 2005 Bottle. Bout time for an updtae here. I remember loving this stuf when i first started out beer hunting. I find it a bit average nowadays. Coriander, citrus, light bodied, refreshing and easy to drink. But not as special as i remember.

Fruity, citrus and very refreshing. Though a rather weak finish.

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2008 Buttery yoghurtaroma. Yoghurt and fresh cheese flavors, with grapes and citrus. A clear rancid butter flavor. What has gone wrong with this beer? TRe-rate, tap Café De Nieuwe Roos Ootmarsum: Grape juice and coreander aroma and flavor. Fairly dry and fruity, with just a bit of citrus. Rather herbal and thin. (6 3 7 3 12 = 3.1) Bottle, bought as Witte van Steenberge> Butter and traubenzucker in the aroma. Sweetish flavor with traubenzucker and citrus. Rather thin. Butter in the aftertaste. Decent, nothing more.

UPDATED: SEP 29, 2004 Refreshing sour (in a possitive way sour), little citrus-like. I guess this is the most refreshing beer I had this summer.
Rerate. Spicy, wheaty and more citrus aroma. Taste is refreshing, mostly citrus soem spices and wheat.
