Commercial Description:
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

(Bottle, Belgian Version, BB 06/03/07, sampled around May of 2007) Pours a cloudy golden body with a large frothy white head. Aroma of lemon, wheat bread, banana, and mustiness. Flavor of wheat, light citrus, and coriander with a thin mouthfeel and dry, chalky finish.

Bottle, 25 cl. Hazy light yellow color with thick head. Aroma fruity, spice with coriander. Thin to medium body. Taste bit citrus, good balance between, coriander, graininess, spices. Very refreshing. Good.

8/12 0.25 l draught at Hopdevil, shared with Petra, thanks for ordering it. Murky pale yellow body with medium bigger white head. Light aroma of banana, mixed with some orange or similar. Flavor is bitterish and sweetish, nice wheat felt, but quite watery. Pleasant sweetish fruity finish, but unfortunately quite short. Nothing special, not bad surely but if only had more body...

12 oz.bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow with a minimal head that faded quickly. Smell is of spices, black pepper, and lemons. Has a refreshingly tart, bitter sweet lemony wheat malt taste. A good brew to buddy up with after mowing the lawn on a hot afternoon.June 2004

Bottle from Bier Temple. Light banana aroma, some Christmaslike spices - cinnamon and nutmeg? Rather banal wit, boring. At least it is not too clpyingly banana sweet.

Bottled in Take One Maastricht. Murky light yellow color, thin bubbly white head. Aroma has lots of wheat (ok for a wheat beer) and sweetY malt. Flavour is bit citric sour, with wheats again very light aftertaste.

Bottle. Poured with a lot of floaties, in a hazy, yellow-orange body, and with a diminishing, dense, white head on top. The aroma lead my thoughts to a tea and coffee shop, but there were oranges and spices as well. Quite distinct. A bit weak flavor, with oranges, lemons, spices, some tea, and a bitterness towards the end. Both hoppy bitterness and orange-peel bitterness, and some notes of black tea. Medium, a bit dry and dusty mouthfeel. The beer has a lovely aroma, but the flavor doesn’t reach the same level. Nice beer thouch, it could easily be drank by numbers. (070926)
