Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

Retrogusto prolongado, afrutado y reseco. Refrescante pero algo dulzona. 250ml bottle. Octogonal shape Bruggs Chalice. Pale straw color, cloudy appearance. White froth, rings on sides & floating yeast on top. Coriander & citric, biscuit, herbal & subtle spiced aromas. Sweet malt, biscuit & herbal flavors at first sip. Medium to light body. Moderately high carbonation. Oily to watery texture. Low bitterness, delicate citric pulp – tangerine- & light spiced flavors resolve in a sweet finish. Long fruity & dried spiced aftertaste. Refreshing but quite cloying sweetness.

Keg at Six Deg North. It pours cloudy gold with a medium white head. The nose is wheat, dough, herbal notes, barnyard, pepper and hay. The taste is crisp, doughy, cream cheese, orange peel, sherbet, hay, wheat and a dough of spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Decent enough wit.

Bottle from Yamaichi. Haven’t had this in years. Light banana nose, with some peach, grain, and light coriander. Cloudy pale honey color. Mild coriander over decidedly ripe banana, light bittering in finish. Thin and just a touch astringent, Sort of dry in finish. Delicate all around. Well made.

25 ml. bottle. Hazy pale yellow colour, good head, but not much retention. Big lace. Smell is faint in comparison to some others belgian white: orange, coriander, fruits, some spices and pepper. Normal carbonartion, medium body. Fizzy. Taste is the same as nose. Being the "original" white belgian I was expecting much more. It pales in comparison to Hoegarden, IMO.

Bottle 0.25 l. First when I poured, I was surprised with head . Not in a positive way. Medium head, which goes fast down. Hazy. White golden color. None of lacing. But aroma is something really interesting. It smells like lemon ice tea. Are they using elder here? Interesting. In flavor is again that iced tea flavor. Really small dose of coriander. Light body. Too much sweetness, maybe. Hops are low. Overall: real summer drink. Ok beer. Very, very aromatic.
