COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

Bottle at Euston Tap. Pours pale yellow, cloudy, with a fluffy, white head. Light citrus nose with some wheat. Light to medium sweetness with wheat, faint yeast, orange citrus and light, hay-like bitterness. Light bodied with fine, energetic carbonation. Finishes crisp, clean with some more wheat and mild citrus. Refreshing, pretty nice.

Small glass, on tap at Staminee de Garre. Very, light straw coloured body. Spotty lacing. Smell of wheat and ripe banana sweetness. Coriander and sweet banana in flavour. Oily palate. Dry on the swallow. Easy to drink with a slightly refreshing twist (Brugge, 03.05.2011).

UPDATED: OCT 22, 2007 Pale, clearish haze with a thin creamy head. Large, visible pip-like pieces of sediment. Pineapple sweetness and a sour tang of citrussy lemon. A potent dose of coriander followed by some lovely biscuity notes long after the swallow. Very fruity and very wheaty. A refreshingly tangy Wit. (Re-rate) A dusting of clove. Bittersweet, slightly sickly Witbier sodden with estery banana fruitiness.

Bottle. Sour milk, lemon and wheat malt aroma. Cloudy orange-yellow color with minimal head. Sour milk, lemon and wheat malt flavor. Thought this might have been old but had a best before date of 28Jan09. Compared to Hoegaarden, Texas Celis and Michigan Celis, this one was the weakest, but still not bad.

Wow, orange peel and apple aroma. Very refreshing with something new that works just fine. Light, slightly tart with soft flavour of banana. Yeasty, very delicious beer. Gentle and skillfully crafted.
