Commercial Description:
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

Nice wheat beer, with the classic notes of citrus and coriander. Color is light yellow, with a hint of brown in it. Overall a great beer..

Bottle from Dorstvlegel, Antwerp. Cloudy green gold colour with thin white head. Slightly sour, lemon, herb, sour/stale aroma. Better in mouth though. In fact wonderful in mouth and finish. Mouth feel is astonishing, lemon and spice are stunning. Fun beer and puts a smile on your face.

Muddy pale yellow with big white head. Aroma of banana, apples. A bit thin in palate - otherwise a prime excample of its kind.

Bottle. Hazy blonde with a nice big mostly lasting white head leaving a good lacing. Fruity, yeasty, banana and bit sweet citrus aroma. Flavour of yeast and wheat, banana, plenty of fruitiness, bit sourish. Yeasty fruity finish. Tasty fruity Belgian wheat beer! 13th of May 2008: Also tasted as "Gensch Mannekes Pies" and still a very fruity tasty ale (also 3.6).

Pale, clearish haze with a thin creamy head. Large, visible pip-like pieces of sediment. Pineapple sweetness and a sour tang of citrussy lemon. A potent dose of coriander followed by some lovely biscuity notes long after the swallow. Very fruity and very wheaty. A refreshingly tangy Wit. (Re-rate) A dusting of clove. Bittersweet, slightly sickly Witbier sodden with estery banana fruitiness.

250ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Cloudy yellow in appearance, with a thin white head. Aroma is a touch buttery, waves of alcohol and some malt syrup. Smooth and thick in the mouth with a pronounced sweet body, slightly oily/buttery, tropical fruit and some spice. But all those nice flavours are rather subdued and overall this just feels dead average.

Slightly cloudy, yellow with thick billowy white head. Peppery, lemony nose. A bit watery at first. Peppery and a bit fruity in the middle with a dry and fizzy end. 6/30/03:Six months later this seems more orange flavored and lighter spiced. Much better than earlier.
