COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unfiltered in bottle and keg.
Pierre Celis created the original Hoegaarden beer in the early 1960’s. Interbrew-Labatt bought the brand and the brewery in the 1980's. Pierre Celis formed a new brewery in Austin Texas, brewing the same beer but under the brand name Celis White. Miller bought the Celis brewery and the Celis White brand-name in 1996. The brewery closed in 2000. In late 2002 Michigan Brewing bought the Celis White brand from Miller. Brouwerij Van Steenberge is now brewing the original Pierre Celis White under the brand-name Celis White in Europe and Ertveld's Wit in North America.

Pours light, cloudy; good witbier color, though a bit more yellow than most. Medium-sized head of white foam, vanishing in about a minute. Aroma is of malt and wheat, almost bready with a slight acidic tang; flavor is malty, grainy, slightly sweet and sour. Slight aroma of citrus and hops in the finish. Not very complex, but a good beer for refreshment on a hot day.

Score. 25cL bottle. I like this history of this beer, it’s a true craft brewer’s story and it was crafted in my hometown, Austin! While the aroma is good but light, the appearance is just beautiful (and looks VERY appetizing on a hot day), with a "bubbly" head, and opaque pale yellow color. The variety & complexity of taste is really this beer’s best quality, though. Lots of lemon zest, fruit, and subtle spices. The bottle label is awesome, too.

Had at Chumleys in Broadripple, IN on a perfect day for this style of beer. Pillowy white head that hangs on the glass. The spice sediment hangs around in this thick brew. Corriander and orange are the dominant flavors and are supported by banana, pear, apple and cream. Delicious and recommended.

(Bottled I always drink witbiers in sparse minutes and It looks good and inviting with shitloads of sediment floating around dirty yellow ... it just ’looks Belgian’ on the palate rather bitter sweet , tart and dry ..notes of lemon tart fruit zest bitterness.
Pleasant and relaxed.

Thin white head, very hazy pale yellow color. Very sweet, but not malty. Moderate citrus notes, some coriander, no alcohol bite. Refreshing, but a bit too sweet and with little depth. Not a repeat buy.

Bottle 25 cl: hazy pale beer with a white foamy, but quickly disappearing head. Very sweet aroma of wheat, citus, pineapple, belgian yeast, coriander. Taste is very sweet, wheat, slight bitterness. Creamy palate, low carbonation, nice lacings. Too sweet even for a wheat beer
