Cask at NWAF 2009. A pitch black beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and roasted coffee. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of hard roasted malt and coffee, leading to a dry, bitter coffee finish.

Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, nutty, coffee, berry sour, sweet licorice notes. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average, and a dry licorice acidic finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. [20090123]

A Sim rate (Manc Winter Ales Fest): Slightly roasty, nutty chocolate aroma, but not enough of it! Slight sweetness. Great opaque stouty color with a creamy head. Bitter flavor, with sweetness underneath. Chocolate. Nuts. It’s a stout really. But let’s not get SilkTork started. Great flavor.
