Rich aroma of bittersweet chocolate and chocolate covered popcorn. Flavors of coffee, dark chocolate, and baked bread with the slightest hint of spice from the hops.

[Tap] Opaque dark brown colored pour. Thin brown head on top. Roasted aroma includes hints of cocoa and anise. Flavors of chocolate, mocha, lighter coffee, molasses and earthy notes. Medium bodied. Lingering roasted malts and leather in the finish. A decent beer.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a medium-bodied chocolate and roasted malt flavor with a dry finish. A little coffee too.

On tap at Monk’s Kettle, SF. Almost black, beige head. Rich chocolate, roasted coffee, hints of tart fruit. Well-balanced flavours, dry roast countering sweeter chocolate malts. A bit light body, but good overall.

From a tap at the brewery. The pour is a very dark red with an minimum white head. There’s slight silk texture, rasin, roasty malt. I like it .

Should have known by the time I got to this that they know what they’re doing with the low abv stuff. Delicate balance is well done bewtween light chocolate and roasted malt and even lighter tones of toffee, coffee and hops. Well done!"

Nose is chocolate with a light toasty character. Some moderate coffe as it warms. Taste is lightly bitter, almost fruity. Some sugary sweetness. Reminds me a lot of taddy porter. Solid

Draft at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have some mild roasted malts, chocolate, hints of coffee, the nose and flavor are pretty standard for a porter, only negative is that its on the thin side.

Pours black in the middle with dark brown edges. Nice khaki foam. Lots of lacing. The liquid seems cloudy, but the color makes it hard to tell, obviously. Very portery flavors - what a silly thing to write. Mild coffee, some roast, a little dark chocolate, good dose of caramel. Pretty big on cola, which is actually what I associate with porter and don’t really love. Mild vegetal note, probably from the hops. Relatively mild milk chocolate. The taste follows the aroma, which I could write for the vast majority of beers, but there’s more roast and cola flavor. It’s relatively dry. Vegetal and cola finish, which sounds bad but it’s a pleasant enough flavor. A little bit of ash and more caramel. Mouthfeel is somewhat creamy but gets a touch thin in the finish. Pretty good porter but not in the same league as their hoppy beers.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee, notes of dark fruits, hints of honey, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average to smoother texture. A solid porter.
