[Tap] Opaque dark brown colored pour. Thin brown head on top. Roasted aroma includes hints of cocoa and anise. Flavors of chocolate, mocha, lighter coffee, molasses and earthy notes. Medium bodied. Lingering roasted malts and leather in the finish. A decent beer.

Sampled at GABF 2015 with Paul and Moreau. Pours a deep brown body with tan head. Aroma is essentially roast. Mouthfeel is light bodied with notes of sweet sugar, thin roast, light grain and soft round malt.

Draft at brewery. Near black with a thin beige head. Very nice aroma. Great coffee and dark malty. Chocolate. A light fruitiness. Very nice.

Draught. Thin black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate malt. Flavour is creamy vanilla malt, coffee and a little smoke, long dry smoky finish.

Draught at Ale Arsenal. Moderate high roast and a little meaty. Clear brown with ivory head. Thinnish mouthfeel and roasty. Cola aspects as well. Moderate low bittering. Not very interesting.

[2/15/15] Draught at Cellarmaker in San Francisco. Black. Roasty aroma with coffee. Bittersweet roasty flavor with some coffee and a bit of chocolate. Medium-bodied.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a chocolate aroma. There is a medium-bodied chocolate and roasted malt flavor with a dry finish. A little coffee too.

On tap at Monk’s Kettle, SF. Almost black, beige head. Rich chocolate, roasted coffee, hints of tart fruit. Well-balanced flavours, dry roast countering sweeter chocolate malts. A bit light body, but good overall.

From a tap at the brewery. The pour is a very dark red with an minimum white head. There’s slight silk texture, rasin, roasty malt. I like it .

Should have known by the time I got to this that they know what they’re doing with the low abv stuff. Delicate balance is well done bewtween light chocolate and roasted malt and even lighter tones of toffee, coffee and hops. Well done!"
