Galaxy hops come all the way from Australia. We feel bad for these little guys. They travel so far and we feel like they donít get their due respect so we decided to feature them in their own beer. Moonage Daydream is the next ale in our series of 100% single hopped beers. It is an extra pale ale with a simple malt bill of pale malt, vienna malt, and a touch of caraMunich. The galaxy hops present a complexity that is usually acheived by using multiple varieties. Aromas of orange peel, mango, unripe papaya, lemon peel and pine explode out of the glass and flavors of grapefruit, crackery malt, and lemongrass lace your tongue. Finally, a lingering grassy bitterness hangs on tight with a pear like fruitiness. Grab a pint and freakout in a Moonage Daydream. Oh Yeah!

Super hazy golden orange. Creamy head fades fast. Smells like the freshest fruit. So fruity and juicy and full of pineapple and mango. So the 100% galaxy does make this a bit to medicinal but fruit up front and cough drop finish.

Sampled at Cellarmaker. Aroma is a nice display of Galaxy hop. Grassy, grapefruity and mango like. The flavor is mildly hoppy, nice grassyness up front, frutiy in the center with grapefruit and mango light again, maybe peach. Bitterness lingers. Body is crisp and refreshing with light pine hints in the back end.

750ml growler in a tulip. Pours hazy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of fruity and citrusy and lightly resinous hops, some pale and light caramel malts, and hints of dough. Flavor the same with a great hoppiness. Average texture. A really good pale ale.

Hazy yellow pale ale. Love the dry hop flavor but hops lingered a bit too much. They were shooting for a Alesmith style hoppy pale, but the hops and hazy body tipped the balance.

On tap at Lupulo. Aroma has a medium cracker malt and biscuit notes. Moderate hop character with lots of tropical fruit, a bit of grapefruit and pineapple, and some melon notes. Puts a cloudy, pale yellow gold work a medium sized, white head that recedes steadily to the edges. Moderate lacing and faint legs. Flavor is really nice with a light sweetness, and some cracker and biscuit flavor. Medium bitterness, but soft instead of harsh. Lots of juicy hop flavor work citrus, tropical fruit and melon. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice beer with lots of hop flavor and aroma. Nice, balanced malt notes and really soft water character.

From a tap at the brewery. The pour is a hazy yellow with grass and mango notes.A good amount of bitterness for a pale ale and slick texture.

Cellarmaker Moonage Daydream - The color is a pale gold, light honey. Itís quite cloudy, which makes the color look dull, flat. The head is white and composed of tiny bubbles. Itís somewhat vigorous. Moderate lacing, decently sticky. Fades after a minute or two. The aroma is fairly mild. Not a ton of hops though more comes out as it warms. Solid tropical flavors. Mango, passionfruit, kiwi. The malt is a bit more forward than usual. Just a fresh base malt flavor with some spice. Similar taste. I think they were shooting for easy to drink. Itís mildly bitter. Some nice hop flavor. Similar to the smell with a bunch of fruit. Quite dry. Neutral yeasty flavor. Aftertaste is a touch grassy. Light mouthfeel. Kinda fizzy at least relative to other Cellarmaker offerings. A touch of hop oiliness. Solid pale. Easy to drink.

Draft last month -- from notes. Aroma: Damn -- like a tropical Christmas tree in my nose. Mint, spruce, grapefruit -- really cool, actually. Pours murky yellowish. Tastes like drinking a Christmas tree - with orange and mint, on a island in the sun somewhere. Moderately sweet, short bitter finish. Sort of unpleasant, sweet resinous aftertaste. Overall: Thereís nothing really wrong with this beer, but wow -- I really donít care for this flavor profile at all.
