COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hoppy brown ale very close to our heart. Tim has been brewing this beer since his early days as a homebrewer. Itís a recipe he has constantly adjusted in his efforts to make a deliciously floral, piney, somewhat hoppy, brown ale. This beer is loaded with flavors from the rich malts and a pleasantly firm but not overbearing bitterness. The end result is a damn tasty brown ale with a nice hop kick.

Draft. Aroma of toast. Medium lace. Flavors of mocha, faint orangey citrus and cola, with the hops keeping it all from being at all sweet. Finish is a bit pithy, but not sweet. Lots of good things going on here.

On tap @ Cellarmaker. Very dark brown with a light reddish hue and tan head. Really strong roasted malt and coffee grounds. A bunch of pine, dark cocoa powder, and a hint of smoke. A bit of a roasted walnut thing going on. Flavor is kind of bitter and roasty but does have some good coffee to it. Quite nutty and a touch ashy. Kind of herbal, woody, and chalky on the finish.

Draft. Clear very dark brown color with a small khaki head. Roast and chocolate aroma. Pretty nice. The flavor is great with molasses, chocolate, and roast. The mouthfeel is dry and resinous. Great for the style.

On tap at Cellarmaker. It pours a dark brown color with some auburn highlights. The aroma is awesome with bready, toasted chocolate malts. The flavor is earthy with toast, mild cocoa and florals. More earth and toasted malt with mild floral bitterness in the finish. A top notch American brown ale.

The beerís color is a muddy brown. Probably dark brown on a normal scale of brown shades, but medium to a shade light for a brown ale. The head is a nice light, creamy khaki. Itís a blanket of foam. Some lacing, decent retention. The aroma is nutty and earthy. Classic brown ale flavors. Background of toffee and biscuit sweetness, light and bready. Mild cola - very nice compared to how you often find this flavor in the style. Lightly sweet. Similar malt flavor, which works quite well. Itís a dried out doughy, light caramel flavor. Mushrooms, earth, light wood, walnut. Mild hop bitterness in the finish, seems a bit citric. Finishes pretty dry, or at least the hops clean up the sweetness. Normal carbonation. Fairly light feel. Some decent body to the beer. This is a tasty brown ale. It doesnít particularly stand out, besides as a well made example of the style. Pleasant and easy to drink.
