3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn)
Lovely English hop aroma, really citrussy like a very fresh EKG or Fuggles, at flame-out ot later. Not lacking in pleasant sweet malts though, a good balance. Lovely in the mouth, gentle bitterness, pleasant carbonation, pleasantly full biscuity malty sweetness, smooth, and succulent. Lovely ESB taste, perfect balance, lacking nothing. So easy to drink, and really makes you want another. In some ways there’s a bit of Fullers 1845 in it, but this is hoppier. I think I might have a few more of these, and see whether I can persuade myself to bump up one of the scores, as 3.7 seems a bit of an underrate, this is an *excellent* strong bitter.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at home, from ABM, 06/07/14.
Hazed golden orange with a good sized white head of bubbles.
Nose is orange marmalade, straw, bread dough, citric peel, light floral notes, caramel.
Taste comprises floral hops, light minerals, bitter orange, touch of grapefruit, honey, pithy citrics, mineral wash.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sharp citric and earthy hop bitterness in the close.
Ok stuff, I’d put this more as an APA than IPA bearing in mind the ABV and hop contents.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle. June 2013 BBD. lightly hazed bronze body with a tall and lasting off-white head. succulent coffee cake malt consumes the nose: spiced bread, honey / nectar, multi-grain crackers, clean and quite whiskey-like. hops provide balanced grass and fruit (dried pineapple and apricots) character, and the yeast is properly musty, dusty and rustic. medium-full body with a rich and sticky malt bite with touches of fresh peat; hops are modestly bitter and slightly resinous; yeast lends an old-world basement must and dried fruit quality. a bit sharp and smacking with a slight excess of alcohol for my tastes, but the body is lush and round and the carbonation full and fitting for the weight. another stellar English-style beer from Celt, and quite fresh, just arriving in state a couple of weeks ago.
