COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottled.
Celt Dark-Age is a delicious full bodied Welsh dark beer. The beer has a special blend of coffee and chocolate flavours, which are balanced with a smooth aroma with subtle notes of caramel and dark fruit, leading to a bitter finish. This beers name comes from the Dark age. Folklore has highlighted many stories of Celtic warriors and kings that waged successful battles against the intruding Anglo-Saxons. None more than King Arthur, who legend has it, fought in 12 battles in the late 5th and early 6th century.

Very personal impression guided by my dislike of whatever has too much coffee taste. Subtle and Coffee is not heavily present here but not balanced with other tastes and underlined by bitterness.

NERAX North cask festival. 11/16/2013. Color is dark ruby with dark brown in the center. Nose is herbal with caramel and hints of coffee. Flavor is malt dominant and real Earthy. Nuts, caramel, traces of coffee and again the herbal notes are large in the finish. Medium body with soft carbonation. Really tremendous job for the low 4 ABV. A session beer with some real flavor. Well made.

Nice and smooth for a dark ale. Nice choclate and coffee flavours that doesnt over power.

This beer pours an extremely clear chestnut color with a giant off-white head, and the aroma blends dough yeast with caramel and roasted malts. The taste is quite umami, slightly sweet, and a touch sour, but that sourness grows slightly. The palate combines a soft carbonation, medium body, slick and thin texture, and a malty finish that doesn’t quite match the flavor but isn’t unpleasant.

Bottle. Mahogany brown body, tall head. Hoppy and caramelly aroma, taste has medium roast and medium hops. Finish has some light roast and notable hop bitterness. My first Mild Ale. But is this what a Mild Ale is supposed to taste like? "Little or no hop flavour or aroma" certainly doesn’t apply to this beer so I will need to find more samples to understand the style.

Pours dark with brown and ruby tints held under the light. Big finger-length head with average retention that leaves medium lacing. Pleasing aroma of nutty, chocolate malts and a hint of fruit. Creamy, well-carbonated mouthfeel. Flavor is mild with a bit of roast and bitterness. Good.

500ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Dark brown color. Small off-white head, stays. Mild roast, malty, bit of caramel in aroma. Weak aroma. Roasted malts, wood, hops, sweetish notes in flavor. Nice one.

500ml bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn)
Slightly sharpish and minerally aroma, a bit sulfurous. Retronasals very sulfury. Treacly malts, harsh hops. more sulfur. A bit disappointing, minerals and harshness reduce the enjoyment of the caramelly malts.

500 ml bottle.
Pours a black colour with a creamy white head. Aroma of roasted malts, biscuit, dark chocolate and some cream. Flavour of roasted malts, biscuit, some rubber, some veggie notes, cream and salty licorice. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and high-ish carbonation. Flavour is a bit off and the amount of carbonation disturbs me.
