3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Dark chestnut with cream head. There is a roasty, toasty element to this from the off. Rich, dark malts to the fore, hints of chocolate bitterness alongside a plummy fruitiness. Good stuff.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Clear black beer with a thick and bubbly beige head. Light aroma of malt. Flavour has a lot going on. Fruit up front very briefly, malty chocolate, a bit of coffee in there but then a nice dose of bitter, grassy hop to mix things up. Has a nice, rich body too. A great beer.

1.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Roasty, toasty taste, but not wholly pleasant.
Completely impossible to pour - even on an angle, on the second pour, glass was 2/3 head
Off-day for the QC team, or it’s a pretty bad beer.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
bottle at home from ales by mail
Dark brown with fluffy beige head. Quite subdued nose, moderate body and carbonation, fairly roasty and dry. A little bland really...disappointing given the rave reviews. Maybe need to try on cask.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Aroma: Medium raisins, metallic. Light roasty. Grassy, resin as the beer warms up. Light buttery.
Appearance: MASSIVE rocky, long lasting, tan head. Clear, dark amber body.
Flavour: Medium bitter chocolate, nutty. Medium bitterness, resin, light sweetness. Dry finish with lingering cacao, bitterness and resin
Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium-high carbonation.
Overall: Pours a MASSIVE head. I couldn’t get more that 100 ml into a 700 ml glass! According to the bottle this is a Mild, but the bitterness is not to style! The metallic and massive carbonation may indicate infection.
500 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre!

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Shared 500 ml bottle at local tasting, from Oddbins Chiswick. BB 28.07. 2014. Ruby colour, large and fluffy beige head. Moderate but nice aroma of dark but not heavily roasted malts. The flavour is also malty, but fairly dry, with moderate roasty notes and hints of chocolate. Sufficient bitterness. Nice beer.
