Celt Dark-Age is a delicious full bodied Welsh dark beer. The beer has a special blend of coffee and chocolate flavours, which are balanced with a smooth aroma with subtle notes of caramel and dark fruit, leading to a bitter finish. This beers name comes from the Dark age. Folklore has highlighted many stories of Celtic warriors and kings that waged successful battles against the intruding Anglo-Saxons. None more than King Arthur, who legend has it, fought in 12 battles in the late 5th and early 6th century.

Sour coffee aroma with hoppy bitterness coming through, pleasant. Big thick foamy beige head. Surprisingly hoppy for a mild, lends a good character to the brew. Slightly grapefruity. Can’t really get the coffee / dark fruit / caramel but still nice. Good texture.

Clear dark red - amber beer. Tidy pale cream coloured head. Palate is light, crisp and a little dry. Super light malts, minerals. Vague dark fruits. Dry finish. Mmm it’s all a bit bland and non-descript. I expect more of this brewery now.

Hamilton Hall Spoons. Cask. Clear dark amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth malt with very light and dry sweet cream. Underneath is a woody toffee bitterness. English hop bitterness before the light dry finish. All right.

500ml bottle at the Watford tasting, thanks to Fergus for this one. It pours a clear dark ruby colour with a medium tan head. Aroma has fruity notes of red berries, a slight grainy and yeasty touch. Taste has gentle roasted barley notes, some husk, a touch of milk chocolate, cautious hints of dried dark fruit, integrated bitter hop notes. Good.

Big stable lasting head with brown color, bit of roasted malt aroma. Medium bitterness in taste. Even though I am a fan of stronger dark ales this one was a pleasant experience.

Bottle thanks to Fergus, enjoyed in Watford. It pours dakest brown with a small beige head. The nose is toasty, caramel, earth, raisin and cherry cola. The taste is toast, light roast, cocoa, biscuit, berry, Vimto and raisin with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Smooth, well-rounded and very drinkable.

500ml bottle, pours clear dark maroon colored, with a medium sized tan head. Aroma and taste of roasted malt, honey, orange peels and a hint of chocolate.Light sweetness and medium bitterness. Medium-light body, somewhat thin texture, average carbonation. Not a fan of Mild Ales, but this is a good beer for the style.

En ganska tunn öl. Jag upplever inte alls en komplexa smakpalett som de själva beskriver. Mörk och fin färg dock.
