2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
10th April 2010
Clear gold beer. Short white head. Light dry palate. Creamy dry malt. Seamless join to fresh hops that impart orange and little grapefruit. Malt turns slightly soapy before the dry finish. Bitter aftertaste. Not bad.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
500 mL bottle. Pours honey brown with a thin white head, leaving lots of lacing as it goes. Picked up an unpleasant, bile like sulfurous note at the beginning that seems to blow off a little; flawed batch? As that subsides, aromas of malt and citrus, lemon, kaffir lime, ginger. Sweet and malty without a lot going on, slimy mouth feel. Reminds me too much of commercial Canadian beers. Wouldnít buy again.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours light orange gold with a short lived white soapy head. Nose of citrus, grass and sweet toasted malts. Has a weird chalky mouthfeel seemingly brought on by the peppery carbonation. Thatís distracting. Even bitterness. Notes of caramel, fresh bread crusts, and yeast. Finish is just a little un-clean.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
1 finger head. carbinaed, gold. smells light n sweet. Agressive bitter grassy & sourish hops. Feels odd in belly. Watching possable final stanly cup game while drinking this. The native storm one I also have and wll have next. This one is just a leminy, orange, grassy bitter hoped ale that has a lightly gross sweetness and it sites odd in belly. Donít taste like a 4.2% beer at all. Not crap, but not great Not how I would perfer my ale biskity aftertaste. Cheerís.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Stop number two on our blonde-ales-of-the-world tour: Wales, birthplace of Tom Jones. That fucker knew how to party! This poured a brighter yellow gold than Angler, with a livelier head. Aroma is more grainy, with pithier citrus (white grapefruit). Clean, lighter, citrus and grain flavours with floral undertones. The hops are pretty subdued here though. Still, clean, fresh and pleasant.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A hazed golden ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, caramel malt with grassy British hops, with light piney notes. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt with faint British hops, a tad boring, but decent. LCBO bottle.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Looks and smells better than it tastes. Pours golden with a giant white head. Highly carbonated. A little hazy. Pine, citrus and hops in the nose. Starts a little bland, then the hop bitterness kicks in and that doesnít help. Some of this might make the drain.

Sampler on tap thanks to kind barman at Devil Craft on Tokyo (of all places). It is indeed a golden ale, medium body, has a definite interesting exotic fruitiness in the hops, maybe something mango or papaya, hint of slight sugary rot with that. Not whollyconvinced it was my thing but worth a go.
