Finally, a Welsh rate. RateBeer has been discretely badgering me about it for years - itís the easiest country to nail that you havenít rated, the stats say. Damn it, RateBeer, Iím trying, honest! Welsh beer seems to travel to Australia about as rarely as the rugby team these days. Shame. My low expectations for this ale, stumbled on in a pretty run-of-the-mill country bottlo, were pleasantly surpassed. Gold with a chill haze and a loose, shallow head. Fresh, malt-dominated aroma. Lemon, honey and 3am rolls. Palate seems mildly underdone - verging on flat. May be the bottle age or an attempt to mimic cask conditioning? Bread, bread, bread on the tongue. May be the breadiest ale Iíve come across. No complaints here. Bit herbal, bit floral. Overall, one of the best bottled ales Iíve had from the UK, with none of that nasty pasteurised lolly taint. Nice work. (500ml bottle from DíVine Cellars, Wentworth Falls. BB 4/11/13)

Pours lightly hazy gold with a small, frothy and bubbly white head, short retention with light lacing. Aroma is biscuit malt, light earthy and spicy, minty hops and faint pear esters. Flavor is balanced malt and hops, medium bitterness and a crisp, dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation. not very good if you ask me

Pours a opaque light golden with a biggish white head. Has a lovely floral nose with some zesty citrus fruit and honeyed notes. Flavour wise, itís light and fruity with lots of sweet and sour citrus (mandarin, lemon, grapefruit) with sweet bready and grassy malt in the background, which is followed by a very assertive, dry, slightly salty hop bitterness. Has a medium body and lively carbonation. For something 4.2%, this is a really heavy hitter. The bitterness may be too much for some but if youíre a hop head, you should be well satisfied. A very nice golden ale indeed.

Bomber bottle. Pours a hazy reddish amber with a frothy, thick white head. Moderate carbonation. Sweet, fruity aroma. Taste is hoppy, some grass, warming to a resin/citrus like bitterness. Medium mouthfeel. Finish is grassy bitterness, with some fruity sweet tones. Very interesting, not like any other golden/blonde ale Iíve ever had. I like it, but not sure itís classed correctly... more like a hoppy extra special bitter, or an English IPA.

Cloudy golden appearance with light particles and a large frothy/creamy lasting like ice-cream head, very fruity aroma very tropical with massive grass notes, flavour was also fruity, hoppy and bitter, lightly acidic on on the tongue leaving a bitter aftertaste, loved it very fruity 6 months ago I would have rated very differently. Thanks Hitchy good choice, swing 92.

Cask at Draft House. Pale yellow, slight haze, small white head. Aroma has lots of lemon tart. Body is medium, smooth. Taste is earthy, medium bitterness. Decent. Barman loved it and I can see why - very appetising aroma.

Cask at the Euston Tap - London. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a tight, frothy white head. The nose has citrusy hops, hay, pale malts. Light sweet flavor with nicely balanced citrusy hops, some tangerine, melon, lemon rind. Light bodied with ine carbonation; great condition. Well balanced on the finish with more lemon and tangerine, mild bitter hay and grass, pale bread sweetness. Great stuff.

It pours golden with a small white head. It has the smell of grass, a bit of lemon, and floral elements. It has the taste of floral elements with grassy elements. It does have a bit of a strange tinge on the palate, but otherwise is good.
