2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 slimspady (39) - Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 16, 2012
Looks and smells better than it tastes. Pours golden with a giant white head. Highly carbonated. A little hazy. Pine, citrus and hops in the nose. Starts a little bland, then the hop bitterness kicks in and that doesn’t help. Some of this might make the drain.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 mabel (4405) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 26, 2012
[4205-20111218] 500mL bottle. Mild fruity grains aroma. Clear, medium orange body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Light apple grain flavour is quite rough. Medium body. Average, a little unrefined. (5/3/5/3/12-) 2.8
Overheard: "What does that say?" "Bacon Marmalade." "That’s disgusting... But it tastes good."

Sampler on tap thanks to kind barman at Devil Craft on Tokyo (of all places). It is indeed a golden ale, medium body, has a definite interesting exotic fruitiness in the hops, maybe something mango or papaya, hint of slight sugary rot with that. Not whollyconvinced it was my thing but worth a go.

Bottle at home, from my Maudite glass. Pours clear golden (oooh.. surprise!) with a thin white head, and decent lacing. Nose is gentle hops, mostly in the tropical fruit realm, and clean grain. Pardon me for saying so, but after the Thornbridge beers, and the Fyne Ales beers, and even the Durham and Moor stuff, this seems remarkably tame for a Golden Ale. Flavours are again tropical fruit (mango? papaya? and some perfume/rosewater, with a light spicy finish. Nothing really wrong here, but I have tasted so much better lately. Woo for the Wales tick though...

500ml bottle pours a clear golden color with a small white head that leaves some thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is very floral with some mild grains. Taste is a pleasing hoppy bitterness with a nice malty backbone. A very enjoyable blonde ale with a light to medium body and adequate carbonation. Recommended.
