Bottle from the St Albans: Beer Shop. Poured black, with a dense tan head. Strong aroma of liquorice, rich molasses and a slightly smokey note. Thick, silky mouth feel. Full, complex flavours of roasted malt, bitter hop and dark chocolate. Finish was grassy, with some rich fruit, treacle and espresso. Excellent stuff!

Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, light leather - grass. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, roasted, alcohol, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20140217]

Cask at the Euston tap. Rich red caramel coloured pour with a loose light tan head. Aroma is toasted caramel and berry fruits. Soft roast. Flavour is rounded sweet caramel, unrefined sugars and red berry fruits. Hides the alcohol reasonably well with a warming finish. Palate is sticky sweet with slickness from the alcohol. Nice wood and booze with lingering berry rounds out the flavour nicely. More like an English barley wine with some roast.

Cask at Euston Tap, London. A black coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Roasty, malty, ash aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, ash, some chocolate and a medium bitterness. This one really grew on me. Good stuff from Celt Experience.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner großen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr röstmalzig, Kaffee, bittere Schokolade. Geschmack sehr röstmalzig, fruchtig, bitter, schwarze bittere Schokolade, holzig, alkoholisch.

Bottle from Discount Supermarket, Cardiff. Pours deep brown to black, quite dense tan head. Aroma is blackcurrant, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, molasses. Medium sweet and medium-strong bitterness. Booze and bitter burnt malts linger in the finish. Full body, heavyish mouthfeel, a bit powdery finish. Decent but far from as good as many other Imperial Porters.

Jet black pour, nice frothy head. Hop forward nose with some toasted malt in the background. Taste is somewhat sweet and full bodied. Lingering roasted malt. Higher alcohol lingers a bit too long.

330ml bottle from Beer Hawk - Black body with a small, dark tan head. Nice coffee aroma with a chocolate undertone. Very smooth on the tongue. Primary flavour is, as expected, coffee, but with a lingering chocolate note and a slight grainy taste too. Excellent.
