A huge complex of roasted coffee, dark chocolate, expresso and liquorice finish with a enticing winey backbone.

Pours dark with a bit of foam. Nose is quite sweet. Taste is intense and full of flavors. Chocolate sweetness, toffee, strong cocoa nibs, scratching the tongue. Long and lasting bitter aftertaste. Chocolaty. Nice winter sipper.

Pitch black color. Quickly dissipating light brown head. Very sweet, too sweet, chocolate nose. Roasted malt, but too sweet with some dark fruit character. Full body, but not really that great. The sweetness is highly distracting.

Bottle from beersofeurope I think. Very dark brown almost black beer with small head and patchy lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice and dark fruits. Taste is hoppy, pontefract cake, dark malts, sweet malts and a little alcohol warmth. Medium bodied and a little oily. Very good.

opaque dark brown black with thick pale beige head. Licorice blackcurrants, slightly smoky savoury nose. Full bodied, warming, savoury, roasty, touch of bacon, vanilla, gentle carbonation, dry ashen notes. Rich but not massively boozy

Opaque and pitch black with a small tan head. The nose is well roasted and surprisingly hopped with with spicy English hops. A bit of coffee grounds in the middle with big roasted notes and light dark fruit flavours. The finish has a pronounced alcohol presence and moderate hop bitterness. Overall a great brew but lacking of balance.

Bottle. Pitch black with a small head. Slightly spicy with malts also present. As you would expect there was a powerful alcohol presence. Well crafted and well balanced leaving lots of lacing. An excellent example of this style.

Bottle - pours very deep ruby red, almost black and has a large frothy brown head. Great retention and thick lacing. Aroma is quite sweet and floral with roasted malt, cocoa and coffee. Taste of roasted malt and coffee followed by cocoa butter with chocolate and coffee to finish. Lightly bitter. Medium body and low carbonation, a little warming.

Bottle shared at Chriso’s post GBBF minidig, 16/08/14. Dark mahogany brown with a moderate tan swirl. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, dark malt, hoppy backnotes. Taste comprises cocoa nibs, dark fruit rinds, dark malt, light roast. Medium + body, moderate carbonation, drying close. Decent stuff, hides the ABV well.
