2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Braudog (5028) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - JAN 20, 2013
Draft at the brewery. Weak super-pale yellow hue. Drinks with a super malty front, overly sweet, with a corny finish. Lacks a Koelner snap. (#4921, 1/19/2013)
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Foxbush (991) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 5, 2013
Sample at the brewery. The beer poured a clear, straw yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma had some earthy hop character to it. This is clean tasting beer. It is a good session beer. The carbonation is lively with a touch of crispness to it in the flavor. I thought it was a good beer for most anytime. Good crowd for a Saturday. They still had a cask conditioned porter that will called Plow which I tasted as well. Purchased a growler of Pocohoptus.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Drake (6503) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - DEC 8, 2012
Served on draft at the brewery. Pours a clear golden color with a thin creamy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of dry grainy malts, herbal and faintly grassy hops. The taste is sweet grainy malts with a grassy finish. Medium bodied, fairly crisp.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Kinz (2971) - Glen Allen, Virginia, USA - DEC 7, 2012
Draft at brewery. Glad to finally make it up to the COTU! Pours a clear straw yellow. Mild aroma of pale pils style malts, a bit crackery. Flavor matches - nice light malt flavors, and a balancing, crisp hoppiness on the finish. Hops are far more on the balancing bitter side than on the flavor side. A very well executed beer, liked this one. I can definitely seeing this getting some lawnmower time in the summer.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Travlr (7998) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 24, 2012
Draft at the source. Very pale clear yellow color, small white edge head. Aroma of black oepper and malt. More peppery than your average Koelsch.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 radagast83 (3110) - Fairfax, Virginia, USA - NOV 18, 2012
Draft at the brewery - second day open. Poured a clear, straw yellow color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was sweet grains, some earthy hop character to it. There was a touch of crispness to it in the flavor, but perhaps not as much as I like or expect from a Kolsch. I thought it was a pretty solid offering despite my negative comments to the contrary.
